Invasors Next challenger???????

Who does Team Pletcher have? Corinthan looks like a posibility to step forward and try him but I was wondering if Pletcher has one that is ready to blossom. Master comander is the one that comes to mind.

Some people might consider Fairbanks a challenger after running a 115 Beyer last out.

Antitrust32 04-02-2007 02:01 PM

Maybe the horse who won the UAE Derby Asiatic Boy (sp). I hope he comes on over to the USA. Also, Discreet Cat when he gets healthy, except he will most likely be pointed to mile races and Invasor is a router type of guy. Other than that, lets hope some of the three year olds turn out to be pretty good and challenge Invasor in autumn.

MisterB 04-02-2007 02:05 PM

Challenger:)

lemoncrush 04-02-2007 02:23 PM

Did they say what plans they have for him?

I honesty don't think anyone can touch him going a mile and a quarter.

miraja2 04-02-2007 02:36 PM

Match race against Sumwonlovesyou.
In a shocker.....the filly beats him by 3 pulling away with ease.

Send Invasor to Cali to face Lava Man on turf...seriously, nobody is close now.

Seattleallstar 04-02-2007 03:14 PM

Bernardini should come out of retirement, if Bernie were kept around for the DWC. He would of won hands down

And this is based on what?
Invasor blowing by him in the BCC last November??

randallscott35 04-02-2007 04:21 PM

As I said in the Fairbanks thread to the naysayers, loose lead my ass. A 115 is a horse that simply ran away with the race b/c the others couldn't catch up....I don't think he is nearly as good as Invasor but I'd like to see him run against Lava Man that's for sure.

i agreed with you in that thread and i still do fairbanks is a horse with a ton of improvment left in him, and i think hes going to be something special

im not going to say i agree with you, and that bernardini would have won the world cup, but i will say bernardini would have been serious serious competition to invasor

Special I don't know about. But I think he can contend in Grade 1s this year...I do think that. Special I can't go with.

i know im one for bold predictions so i will predict this, i think fairbanks will defeat lava man this year in cali.....

Coach Pants 04-02-2007 04:38 PM

12 point improvement in the beyer department for Fairbanks. Nowhere to go but down.

i love the upside i see when hes opening up in the tokyo city..... i dident say special now but i think he could be, especially vs the competition in cali

POINTGIVEN1985 04-02-2007 04:39 PM

thats not true.... you being a good handicapper should know that

i would like to join those who agree with this statement. winning alone on the front end doesn't make a horse special.

Stick to betting imaginary pick 6's and unloading monopoly money on Discreet Cat.

AeWingnut 04-02-2007 04:44 PM

Follow the Money

I would run Invasor in the Pimlico Special, the Suburban, Whitney, BC Classic, Donn and then back in the DWC

Maybe a couple races in Hong Kong

If it's confined to this thread it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Fairbanks needs time to recharge his batteries.

POINTGIVEN1985 04-02-2007 04:51 PM

if fairbanks and lava man ran in 2 months, thats giving lava man time to recover from the trip to dubai, who would win ?

Because you just said a winner of a horrible grade 3 race would beat one of the best horses to ever run in SoCal. Not beat him away from SoCal, mind you, but in SoCal on a surface that neither have been over yet. You deserve no respect and should go to the corner and put on the dunce cap. Some of your claims are so retarded I envision Corky from Life Goes On on the other end of the internet drooling out what he considers gospel.

tycharles01 04-02-2007 05:04 PM

Well if Premium Tap comes back to the States

Invasor and Premium Tap should have a great couple of races.

Personally though he might have had Invasor goin into the turn but got destroyed in the stretch

smuthg 04-02-2007 05:11 PM

While we're reaching for competition for Invasor, I'll add a couple of names Buzzard's Bay? Steviewonderboy? maybe Nobiz by the end of the year. That said, if there's a horse out there that can beat him at 10 furlongs, I haven't seen 'em. Not that they would run Invasor on the turf, but think Vengeance of Rain could present some issues...

Buzzard's Bay stinks.

And to use another Serlingisim, I'm not sure who will return first---Stevie Wonderboy or Jesus.

I was admittedly "reaching"...

Cajungator26 04-02-2007 05:27 PM

I like Buzzard's Bay. :p

smuthg 04-02-2007 05:29 PM

"Stinks" is a little harsh. Buzzard's Bay was pretty impressive at Oaklawn last year, but not sure he's run since...

well i will stand by it, i firmly belive lava man has never beat a real race horse and i think alot of other ppl agree with me.

And just what is your current version (today's standpoint, please) of a "real racehorse?"

ceejay 04-02-2007 05:40 PM

I think that Invasor is the best horse we've seen in a while, but typically good US return performances from the DWC are rare. I won't bet him in the Surburban, but may not bet against him.......

bernardini, barbaro, invasor, showing up, latent heat, half ours,

lava man has never beat anyone, who is the best horse he beat ?
you could argue that the best horse he ever beat was kings drama who is a solid grade 2 turf horse.

Who has Fairbanks beat? Preachinatthebar? Yeah Lava Man destroyed that mule.

I guess I just disagree with you on what a real racehorse is...

Lava Man is a former claimer who has gone on to beat just about every horse (granted in California) who has showed up to race against him. I'd be proud to own such a horse. He's been a great investment to his owners, which is more than you can say for a lot of other racehorses.
