Then they can say this whole current pregnancy was cooked up as a story to show that she couldn't possibly have been Trig's mother, and the miscarriage is the way out of not actually having to produce another child.

I don't buy it for a second, but you know the blogosphere is going to implode on itself if god forbid this girl doesn't carry her baby to term. Then it'll get ugly.

I hope this becomes a non-issue, even though there's quite obviously the sex ed conversation, and the conversation about how everyone's getting all righteous about leaving her alone....thing for two seconds if one of Obama's daughters was 17 and got pregnant right now. Case closed, your Limbaughs, Malkins, Coulters, Hannitys, all of them would have a field day with it, a black man with a pregnant teen daughter......the race would be over by morning.

Interesting how that works.

This is the absolute bullsh*t that I hate throughout the whole damn election process. This will become on isssue...the Dems aren't gonna let them off that easy. But you are right Brian, if this was Obama's daughter, the far right would be on them like stink on sh*t. The mudslinging won't be any less than it has been for any past elections. The hypocrtical BS that will soon begin to spew from both campaigns would ALMOST be funny if if weren't so f*cking sad.

mccain has always been viewed as a maverick, he pulls his usuall maverick stuff and taps (ahem) a woman to be his running mate, and it's a gimmick. no, it's par for the course for mccain.
i think he could have done better. two years as governor imo isn't enough to show someones capabilities. i'd say usually that the VP selection usually doesn't mean much, but in mccains case it absolutely does due to his age.

Z you were a Hillary fan?

I am totally taken aback.
I had no idea you were a part of the love Hillary festival.

Being around a whole lot of 17 year old girls
it seems to me there is a big problem being a single,
uneducated, kid having a kid.
She is getting married... Ok then.

I'm sure Grandma will help out in this case.
Being a grandma is sorta presidential I guess.

Lets see if the Democrats can lower themselves
to play real Republican hardball with this one.
I think they can.
Easily.

This could not get much better.
Wait until it turns out the father is
a black bisexual.

We welcome Hermoise and his boyfriend into our family.
We could not be happier with this wonderful celebration of life
and the diversity of the human soul.

Talk with your children about abstaining...
Because ya see abstaining from sex will prevent you
from becoming pregnant dont ya know.
Damn good stuff.

Most people will view this from their own personal experiences - I can think of two for me.

I had a best friend in high school who got his girl friend pregnant. She was 16 he was 18 - they got married and kept the child. They just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary - they have quite a few grandchildren.

A close friend of my girl friend had a daughter that got pregnant in High School. She decided to keep the child and not get married. She completed high school and just recently graduated from nursing school. She has created a fine home for her child and although it was a struggle she has done quite well with her family's support.

So for me when I hear this story about Palin's daughter I say... so what...sh^t happens in life deal with it.

I commend Obama's comments that said it not a matter for public debate for his campaign.

she probably had it done early, as was mentioned already, older women are more at risk of giving birth to a downs syndrome child. certainly not unheard of for a woman to have a child at that age, it's happening more and more frequently.
and maybe she kept quiet because it was a higher risk pregnancy, and she also wanted some privacy-7 months is considered the time at which a premature infant can survive being born early.

no, not a hillary fan at all. she's too much of a chameleon for me, untrustworthy for sure.
i just don't understand why some think that just because a female is running she is a shoo-in for the female vote.
oh, wait...that's right...it's because women vote based on emotion, not thought.

Why is Palin's daughter in the news???? This is NOT news!!! What a bunch of morons.

You know I don't even like Palin, but her daughter having a child has no effect on her ability to be VP. They are 2 completely separate matters!!

why is it in the news? because her daughter is the pregnant unmarried daughter of the republican candidate for vp.
hopefully it won't be 'news' for long, as it has nothing to do with whether her mother is a viable vp candidate.

somerfrost 09-02-2008 04:00 PM

ok...MY ONE AND ONLY RESPONSE HERE...her daughter's pregnancy and her hubby's DUI have nothing to do with her qualifications, the abuse of power issue COULD be newsworthy, we don't know. Hopefully Obama will take the high road here (I think he will)...lets look at her qualifications not her personal life! By the way, the daughter's child's father is named Levi something, a hockey player at her school...I wish them both well!

this is just going to get uglier. Now her husband has been linked to this ultra right wing states rights group with members that actually want to secede from the union.

On top of that, she was a former supporter of Pat Buchanon aka Adolph Buchanon.

Okay, her family has nothing to do with her ability to run a country. But if this "soccer mom" can't run her own household...

Just more of the same old sh*t.....and you are right it will get uglier...why I understand her husband like to wear Depends and she like to wear his dirty jockey shorts..

Anybody else want to and their 2 cents?

Oh by the way she worked for Steve Forbes not PB.....and never supported PB.

and She was a member of the Independent Party in Alaska in the mid 1990's that favored looking at Alaska succeeding from the US...BFD..not new info.

What about Obama's brother in Kenya that is starving to death and Obama refuses to help him ...I guess it wouldn't bring him any votes in Virginia.

Actually, she wore a Pat buchanon campaign button.

Actually she has never been anything other than a registered member of the republican party since 1982. Her husband is the one that has been, ummm, less than patriotic.

He is Kenya and he has no influence on his brother. A far cry from someone living in his HOUSE and not having any influence. No?

this is just the beginning and its going to get dirtier and dirtier. This was a poor and rushed move of desperation.

It is what it is and I dont think either party is in any position to point fingers on how it got this way or to claim some kind of moral high ground...especially with the tactics our current president has used in the last two elections.

After being "outdirtied" by the republicans the last two times, did you not expect the democrats to come bearing fangs? The poor vetting job by team McCain just made this all too easy. And they will find more as soon as they have to actually DIG.

If the situation was reversed im sure you realize that the swift boat party would be doing the same thing.

Mike 09-02-2008 09:19 PM

I do like those photos. Where did they get them, the boyfriend's MYSPACE page? Or perhaps a friend of his?

Where is this daughter staying that she has wine and other alcohol bottles prominently displayed? And notice the large size bottle of Captain Morgan's. Looks like the drinking is a pretty regular thing

It is newsworthy when your mom is running for VP on her Evangelican Christian platform.

Lieberman, addressing the Republican convention. says that Barack is eloquent, but has accomplished nothing in the senate, says McCain is the right candidate for change.

can you imagine if a person who formerly ran for VP on the Republican ticket, spoke at the Democratic convention in support of the other party? it would be a story of epic proportions, but you will find nothing of note in the media about Liebermans speech. they're too busy conjuring up more imaginary Palin controversy.
