How about this one for being inbred?

http://www.pedigreequery.com/winlocs+millie

Mr. Prospector is both the sire and dam sire!

Mr. P was one sick dude.

The Indomitable DrugS 12-22-2009 10:35 PM

I know.

Even I wouldn't bang my daughter ... I don't care if everyone else thinks she's a perfect 10.. thats sick.

Don't get me wrong .... I still think Mr. Prospector is a great sire ... but, I really lost a lot of respect for him as a person when I saw Winlocs Millie in the form.

I've never seen Inbreeding like these 2 examples.

I thought it was weird last year when I saw a horse in Cali that was by Lear fan out of a Dynaformer mare (or vice versa ), with Roberto so close on each side.

I think the dam and sire of Sumitas were full siblings to each other.

Of course ... I speak of the poster ... not the halfway decent turf horse the poster was named after.

Heinlein would have been proud.

That is exactly how pinhookers make their living. They'll go to the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and buy horses that look fast and will be able to work a fast 1/8th or 1/4 of a mile at the two year old sales a few months later. The good pinhookers have made millions of dollars doing this. They'll buy a yearling for $100,000 in September and turn around and sell it for $400,000 in February or March after it works fast. People like Murray Smith have gotten rich doing this.

To be a good pinhooker, you obviously have to be able to pick fast horses. Slow horse don't sell well at 2 year old sales.

Bayou Hebert was an okay racehorse and a solid Louisiana stallion. Frank Brothers trained him, and I think Al Stall, Sr. owned him.

Just checked it out and Sourdough Sam is already history.

I always love it when we see a hot horse coming from a smaller track. You never know, he could turnout to be another Smarty Jones.

There is a horse named Uptowncharlybrown that looks like a really nice horse. He broke his maiden very impressively at Tampa Bay Downs. He's running in a stakes race this coming Saturday at Tampa. He's coming back a little quick (3 weeks) but I think he will be able to handle it.

Good looking, big strapping colt with a great stride. Could be anything.

Tried to get a futures bet on him a couple of weeks ago in Vegas, but he wasn't (and as far as I know, still isn't) on the list. Johnny wasn't there to create a number for me.:(

Edit: He went from 250-1 on Tuesday, down to 60-1.

Yes, I saw Uptowncharlybrown was 250-1 on that list before the race over the weekend. I would have liked to have gotten down at that price.

I posted about him in another thread but since this is the Derby prospect thread I figured I would mention Cowboy Gets Even in this thread. He won really impressively today and looks like he could be any kind if he stays sound as is handled right. He literally had 7-8 lengths of trouble and still won.

Ice Box for Zito was good today. His time was just 1/5 slower then older horses earlier in the card.

I bet the race, I boxed him with the Dutrow, and used them equally in pick 3's. I thought the Zito had turned the cornor in Florida the works were much sharper and appeared to be just going better, with that said the horse SUCKS. He pressed a slow pace, pressing other horses that suck and grinded out a win, the favorite is clearly horrible, he was visually ok in his maiden win but slow and he was really bad today. My guess is Ice Box is not far away from being a claimer. When Steve first posted this race, I went into formulator and looked and I thought to myself it would end up being one the weakest "derby prep" allowances they run at the meet.
