Whoa, nice debut win for Ryan Jim! Half-brother to Ryan Mark.

_ed_ 03-18-2016 09:54 PM

That was spectacular from Rasa Lila.

_ed_ 03-18-2016 10:12 PM

GREAT battle between Emily Monk and Mary Quant at Te Rapa.

_ed_ 03-18-2016 10:43 PM

Nice result in the Guineas. The Justice League deserved to win one after all his bad luck.

_ed_ 03-18-2016 11:43 PM

Time for the Oaks!

_ed_ 03-18-2016 11:50 PM

Wow, what an incredible race.

And now a protest!

_ed_ 03-19-2016 12:10 AM

And they've taken Sofia Rosa down.

my miss storm cat 03-26-2016 11:32 AM

Behind on everything but oh, Buffering!

my miss storm cat 03-26-2016 11:43 AM

Ed do you suppose there's something wrong with me... everyone's watching Dubai and I'm watching replays of Storming the Tower (yay!!!!!) winning instead? :D

_ed_ 03-30-2016 08:08 PM

That was great! But a disappointing day overall, with so much rain.

Nice fields for Saturday, especially the G1 Sires' Produce Stakes.

Yeah that looks great... excited about the other stakes races as well (with The Auld Floozie, Maygrove and Paddy and the one with Nashville, Just the Tip and Scapolo!).

Nice field at Ellerslie with Spoke to Carlo (welcome back, good boy :{>: ), Fully Funded, Queen's Rose et al! Lucky you if you'll be there.

Shame about Vespa.

_ed_ 04-01-2016 07:18 PM

Yep, I'm here! But hardly anyone else is - one of the smallest Ellerslie crowds I've seen.

_ed_ 04-01-2016 10:57 PM

Wow, what a great performance by Luna Rossa.

_ed_ 04-02-2016 04:32 AM

Tavago!

VERY nice and hooray for Tavago! Outstanding!

Oh and lest we forget, Maygrove. That was awesome. :)

my miss storm cat 04-05-2016 10:24 AM

Loving the noms for Te Aroha on Saturday...

Welcome home, Abidewithme. :)

_ed_ 04-08-2016 09:21 PM

Argh! It was raining this morning and the forecast was bad, so I decided to cover today's Te Aroha races at home. Then what happens? It clears up, the track is perfect and the racing is outstanding. Sigh. Wish I was there.

Hollywood Lass was exceptional.

_ed_ 04-09-2016 01:48 AM

Lovely wins by Perfect Fit, Snapshot and others, including Sofia Rosa in Sydney, but I can't really enjoy them after Recite. :( This sport is so cruel sometimes.

my miss storm cat 04-09-2016 10:41 AM

Have not yet watched any of the replays and I just can't right now. So sad about Recite..,. God.

Very happy to see that both Storming the Tower and Abidewithme hit the board even if they didn't win.

Oh ed, this just sucks. I can't believe it. :(

my miss storm cat 04-15-2016 04:44 PM

Good luck to Pump Up the Volume in his race and to both Blizzard and Spoke to Carlo at Tauranga.

Nice field for the Gold Cup at Hawk's Bay with Maygrove, Saint Emillion et al. Godspeed Natuzzi :{>: (and Barbaric as well) in the sprint.

Whatever happened to Graphic, ed? Any idea?

Hope he's happy and well wherever he is! :)

I looked at the form for Giant Turtle and he's had four races since the last time I posted an update from hk... he was 12th all four times. 0-0-0 from 10. :(

_ed_ 04-17-2016 05:41 PM

I actually don't know about Graphic! I will try to find out.

Really sad to hear about Giant Turtle.

_ed_ 04-22-2016 08:01 PM

Today is the last G1 of the season. :(

But it's a beautiful day at Ellerslie today and the track looks perfect.

_ed_ 04-22-2016 11:33 PM

Wow, what a great performance by Astara.

_ed_ 04-23-2016 12:25 AM

The Championship Stakes was absolutely terrifying. I don't recommend watching the replay.

Thank you for the warning... just went to the informant to read about it.... scary. I will pass.

You are kidding about the final G1, right?

Authentic Paddy!!!

I thought this was sweet and yeah maybe it should go under HK but whatever. :)

Pleasantly surprised seeing Gustavo had won the ANZAC Mile (wow that was a nice field, too! Very nice win for him!) but reading your piece on the Informant... very happy to see him getting attention. Awesome, ed!

I did not watch it and thanks for the heads up but very nice to hear Danielle Johnson was so extremely lucky (although it sounds incredibly painful). Whew! :)

my miss storm cat 04-26-2016 10:04 AM

Looking forward to seeing the final fields for both the Breeders and Travis Stakes!

_ed_ 04-26-2016 11:13 PM

Amazing fields all day. Can't believe the Breeders' Stakes is only a G3 - that's a G1 field!

Wow just looked and totally agree on all these points. ALL really great fields!

(I think I'm finally caught up haha... just read you piece on Kei Chiong form a couple of weeks ago and finally watched McQueen win. That was awesome!). :)

_ed_ 04-29-2016 10:11 PM

It's great to see Kei doing so well there!

The first three races at Te Rapa have been excellent. Hopefully it's going to get better and better from here. :)

:tro:

Oh, Xtravagant! How great was that? Nice finish from Windbourne. (Liked your piece and the one about Ichiban as well). :)

Why haven't I heard of Barcelo? (Now a fan).

Out of the 7 (no really, seven :D) that I absolutely loved in the Travis, Rasa Lila was not one of them but oh... that was very nice and props to Abidewithme, Gesemi and to The Auld Floozie cause wow that was some finish!

ALL great races but yeah... I did love seeing Fascination Street coming out from so wide to win that first one (that was a seriously nice field) (Too!:D).

I see Amun Ra is entered at Riverton on Wednesday. It would be lovely to see him (finally) get that 2nd win. Wow that was almost two years ago when he looked so good? Fingers crossed.

Again!

A daughter of Jimmy... I couldn't resist!

Yay that is awesome!!!!! :tro:

Going back through the Informant archives to see what I have missed and man, I just get such a kick outta seeing the "dual G1 winner" headline and then seeing the name Julinsky Prince! Some days I frigging hate the sport with the breakdowns and everything but this? This is the kind of thing that just makes my heart melt. :D

my miss storm cat 05-26-2016 09:46 AM

Happy birthday, ed. :)

Maybe they're not G1's on Saturday at Ellerslie but a lot of nice horses running!

_ed_ 05-26-2016 08:41 PM

Thank you! I'm actually on vacation in Australia, so I'll miss the races this weekend. But I'll be getting back into it on Tuesday.

Hope you're having a fantastic time!

I shall have to blow a kiss to Spoke to Carlo through the screen. :D

Nice fields at Trentham tonight (as well as Ellerslie. Duh - hadn't looked)! Not playing, just being a fan.

my miss storm cat 05-30-2016 10:38 AM

John Gray! What a game old man!

Props to Leith... Spoke to Carlo just was not there. Very glad the jockey didn't push him and hope he's alright.

_ed_ 05-31-2016 05:48 PM

That was a really nice break, but I'm back now and happy to be getting back into it. :) It's so good to see that they've put in a soft outside rail at Ellerslie. That's so much safer.

Glad to hear it!

I'll be gone next week (Hawaii... trip 1 of 3... yay haha! England later this summer and Croatia in the Fall - cannot wait)) but in the meantime LOVE some of the fields for the weekend, especially the Storming the Tower / Celebrity Miss / Pump Up the Volume and the one with John Gray, Illumaniti and Fascination Street.

Oh and wow... that race at Wanganui (Ag Challenge Stakes) looks awesome!

I know you must be swamped but Graphic... please remember if you ever hear anything... (?). Thanks! (Also on my favorite girl Pinzaara... would love to hear. Archie as well and the new kid!).

_ed_ 06-03-2016 11:11 PM

Sounds great! I absolutely love Hawaii.
