I thought I recalled Graham Motion saying that Crop Report was taking this path to the Belmont as well - any word Steve?

Not being included in racing office probables as written in the advance.. And now with Rick Mettee of course as part of the Team Valor helm shift.

Conrad 05-07-2013 02:46 PM

Now Titletown Five is in?

The Orb camp has got to be liking this - it could get "Derby ugly" up front again with Oxbow, Goldencents, T-Town 5, and even Govenor Charlie going at it.
Betcha Vyjack doesn't fly out the gates this time.

pmayjr 05-07-2013 03:14 PM

Love that Incognito is finally testing his class in the Peter Pan. They've been slow/cautious with this guy. He's ready to show what's he's made of.

tywizard 05-07-2013 05:13 PM

Excited to see Freedom Child....

vyjack, normandy invasion 'on the fence'.

itsmyluckyday's breeze scheduled for today postponed due to a wet track.

West Point declares Freedom Child a Belmont Stakes starter... while passing the eighth pole in the Peter Pan..

pointman 05-12-2013 12:52 PM

Per Dave Grening, Normandy Invasion is out of the Preakness. "Running back in two weeks would be a mistake" said owner Rick Porter. Jim Dandy or Haskell is the next spot with the ultimate goal the Travers.

He should be well rested by then.

Alabama Stakes 05-12-2013 01:21 PM

Isn't everyone's ultimate goal the Travers ? or the Alabama ? Or is that just my warped thinking ?

In Departing vs. Orb, not only do you have the Claiborne/Phipps/Janney angle, but you've got the Illinois Derby winner vs. the KY Derby winner who coincidentally had the most Derby points going into the race if memory serves. Like anybody, I want a TC winner and it's the right horse, breeding and connections for the history books, but if we sadly end up Crown-less for another year, it might have the positive effect of forcing them to put the Illinois Derby in the points system however much Churchill despises Hawthorne.

Kasept 05-13-2013 10:55 AM

Vyjack passes on Preakness.. 9 runners as of now.

I was told Mr Palmer had surgery, though I can't recall what the issue was.

tywizard 05-20-2013 08:20 AM

I think this has the potential to be a great wagering race...each horse (save Power Broker) will likely take money due to a variety of circumstances. No triple crown but should still be fun.

The Baffert fanatics will ensure Power Broker is an underlay.

David Grening ‏@DRFGrening 7m: Pletcher's Belmont line-up includes Revolutionary, Overanalyze & Palace Malice. Poss: Unlimited Budget &/or Micromanage &/or Midnight Taboo

Someone who was jumping up and down like a child in need of attention before the Derby proclaiming Revolutionary to be a triple crown winner who also claimed that he was giving Borel riding instructions in the Derby?

Kasept 05-21-2013 10:49 AM

Baffert on ATR: No Power Broker for Belmont. Will try turf; Decision pending on Code West..

Thankfully Verrazano won't be unnecessarily rushed -- Pegasus next.

Quote:

“It’s six weeks before the Haskell – I like that spacing,” Pletcher said. “It’s seven weeks out from the Derby, which gives him enough of a freshening.”
Could be a decent race though with Itsmyluckyday also possibly running there.

My favorite day in racing used to be when you could go to the JC Gold Cup during the day and head to the Meadowlands that night for the Pegasus. :tro:

blackthroatedwind 05-22-2013 08:22 AM

Todd is carefully planning Verrazano's campaign to avoid having to run in any NY races. The poor dear needs at least six or seven weeks between races. What's after the Haskell.....the prestigeous Indiana Derby?

Hmmm Stevens makes easy lead on hoss that is known to get brave on the engine. Krigger snatches, Rosario, who had previously been on the good part of the track every race, buries Orb into a no chance spot. When Stevens turned for home he looked like the happiest man on earth. I think he needed the score, he must have been pretty broke to start riding again. I think a ton of people made a score on Oxbow. Pure genius to have have Calzone Lord give the hoss out on the board for everyone to see. As always, truth is stranger and much more interesting than fiction. Nothing like a thirty dolla hoss to pay some bills.

The Easy Goer, being run on Belmont Day, is now worth $150K, the same purse as the Pegasus.
