and how about those VCU Rams and Richmond Spiders!!

Kind of funny now looking at the Vegas Big East prop bet they offered. They had the O/U for total amount of games won by the Big East set at 15 1/2:zz:

slotdirt 03-21-2011 09:48 AM

UNDER.

Really though, it's all about matchups and situations. Figure that Georgetown and St. John's had major injuries to overcome and two really tough 11 seeds to play in the first round. Villanova just blows and probably didn't belong in the tournament. Plus, two Big East teams were beat by other Big East teams.

No excuses for Pitt or Notre Dame though. They just tanked.

timmgirvan 03-21-2011 01:41 PM

apparently Texas got gipped on the inbounds call also!

Washington was robbed. Yes, they did their part in giving away the game, but having to play UNC in Charlotte with those refs meant they never got a fair shake. They played well enough to win.

Washington played very well but their failure to execute down the stretch was the difference. It was a great game but the refs didn't determine the outcome...only questionable call was time remaining at the end.

Completely untrue. Carolina's bigs lived at the line and Bryan-Amaning shot zero free throws despite taking 14 shots. North Carolina was whistled for NINE goddamn fouls the entire game.

And that 'only questionable call' was a complete joke. The idea that Romar asked them to look at the monitor to check the clock and they told him 'they already checked' is so outrageous there should be an investigation. .5 and 1.2 is an enormous difference. They weren't given a fair shake. You're a rube if you think that game was on the level.

slotdirt 03-22-2011 08:02 AM

UNC had two fouls the entire first half. TWO. That is pretty much all that needs to be said about that game (though UNC didn't exactly play a lot of "defense," which might also explain the foul discrepancy.)

randallscott35 03-22-2011 08:27 AM

They were lucky for sure. I think they win the East though.

Bama in NIT final four. Maybe next year they'll just put all the Big East teams in the tournament. If you're going to be biased might as well go balls deep. Maybe the selection committee should be given limited edition big east vibrators in the colors of their favorite school.

UCONN all the way

Maybe but that won't justify having 11 Big East teams in the tournament.

I have a feeling that this is what would happen if cfball went to a 16-team playoff. Loaded with SEC teams that beat up on each other all season and fizzle out in the tournament.

They have to get beyond the computer rankings. Computers should be for nerd s.hit only.

slotdirt 03-24-2011 09:59 AM

coach, in all seriousness, what teams would you have included in the tournament that had better overall profiles than the 11 Big East teams? I just don't think there's a legitimate case for any teams that were left out when compared with the 11 Big East teams.

They have been bad so far no doubt in the tourney, however, some were playing against each other and Pitt was a weak 1 seed who made some of the dumbest plays I've ever seen.

Ever since Jamie Dixon took grooming tips from 1999 Steve Lavin things went downhill.

wiphan 03-24-2011 03:50 PM

WI to dominate Butler tonight. Butler played great against Pitt and to end the year in the Horizon, but they will get rolled tonight against the badgers

slotdirt 03-24-2011 07:54 PM

Folks who didn't like the UNC-UW officiating from last week should be pulling their hair out over the UConn-SDSU officiating tonight. Just embarrassingly one-sided towards SDSU.
