Of course, we don't know if we have all the information, or if that information is true ..... |

I was making fun of your argument about the incidents I posted possibly not being true. |

They play this up so "We the People" will give them more of our power and freedom. As long as Napolatano is surprised by Al Quadas "determination" we won't be able to count on our Big Brother Govt. to protect anything.

Just read this guy is going to be offered a plea deal in exchange for info on his contacts. Oh Boy!
http://www.rr.com/news/topic/article...s_not_guilty/1 We are kinder and gentler now. None of that nasty waterboarding for this guy. They should have withheld his pain meds to get his "cooperation". He would have been spilling his guts. |

Some news org was replaying Osama bin Laden talking from back just after 9-11, saying how he was going to distract the US by threat of attack, and hound us into bankruptcy. |

Reid (shoebomber) pleaded guilty to less numerous, and lesser charges, this kid has more charges, more serious charges (terrorism, etc). This kid will get one life in prison sentence via plea rather than four concurrent ones. |

had they treated him as an enemy combatant (war on terror and all that) they wouldn't have had to read him miranda, and he wouldn't have been able to lawyer up-he'd have been sent to a military base and held like a soldier of war. but now we have him lawyer up, has the right to remain silent, etc. we may already have gotten every bit of info from him-but now it all will plod slowly thru the court system. |

You want to give him Geneva Convention rights? For Al Quaeda? Nonsense. |

either this is a war, or it's not. we didn't charge every nazi soldier in ww2, did we? absolutely not. now, if it's not a war, what the hell are we doing in iraq and afganistan? if it's all criminally handled, then cut the bs and pull everyone out of those two countries and let them work it out. as for what bush did, your constant references to him, who no longer has anything to do with what's going on currently, are tiresome, boring, and a completely different subject. also, we still have plenty of enemy combatants at gitmo and elsewhere. this admin is being inconsistent. if it's a war, they are combatants, if it's not, end the 'wars' overseas now. |

it's funny when i see people say 'why should they get geneva rights'. i don't think some realize what the rules under the geneva conventions entail. it certainly doesn't offer the right to remain silent-all it does is hopefully keep things like andersonville from happening, or the bataan death march. on the other hand, geneva has rules about dealing with soldiers in a military court; it doens't give them u.s. constitutional rights- i doubt you read miranda to every soldier who is captured! also, under geneva, enemy combatants can be held til the end of the war. no trial, no jury; they just sit and wait for the end of the fighting. this guy could have been put under lock and key and kept there without any more press, no trial, no lawyers, no headlines-in other words, no attention like he will garner now. and what if, god forbid, he was to be set free under a technicality?! lol yippee, deported to try again. |

Illegal activities in the past eight years? Ring a bell? Yeah, Bush Bush Bush very successfully prosecuted multiple terrorists in the Federal Court system. It worked beautifully. |
