Anyone notice Parnellie goes from running on the grass to the dirt and back to the turf. Pretty nifty!

this stuff is what draws the newbies in. it looks fun. it's hilarious to watch. When i take people to the races they love the colorful characters. Guys who root for whomever is winning or looks like they're gonna win. guys who call the wrong hoss on photos on purpose just to get everyone going. The guy who yells HEY! when there are numbers flashing, as if they took the winner down. Guys with really bad toupees never get boring. Yelling at the jockeys and their feeble comebacks. Singing I'm the tax man, the taxxxxx man, after hitting a signer. All cool stuff.

Repeats tonight - all three episodes - so a good time to tell interested friends if they missed it so far...

not really thrilled with this beychock guy.
he's a champion sure, but he seems to plug the fact that he's betting 150K, of other people money, the player pool this and that.
I also found it funny how excited he was at the derby when his players pool cashed a 112K pick6......after putting 150K into the pool

Saw online some time back that there are only 7 episodes in the series so they might be stretching them out a little.

There are 10 episodes in Season 1 and new episodes return February 25. They're off, as many shows are right now, to avoid competing with the Olympics.

Cool - glad to see there are 10 episodes. Definitely liking the show.

Would have really enjoyed seeing the Retondo crew at Del Mar's opening day. Especially given Pete Sr's penchant for younger companions.

Review from Vegas website..

Watched 3/4 of the show last night until my cable froze up when I switched over to watch the Nets finish off the Heat.

It's much better without the cowboy imo.

Seems like a lot of the little mistakes wouldn't be that hard to fix. I watched the race where Helmers had the tri, and it was close for 3rd between the 6 and 7, with the 3 clearly 5th. Yet they kept saying it's either the 6 or 3 for third.

Mine too. His voice alone is irritating, reminds me of High Pitch Eric.

Was nice to see Helmers show some emotion rooting his horse home.

asudevil 03-20-2014 04:20 PM

The show has run it's course...Obvious that the only character that the producers are interested in, is Hellmers.
