I think if you had been able to make this argument to Anderson and Gomez, they likely would have landed on Dunkirk. I doubt they considered any of the above.

stonegossard:
Ok genius. Where does Gomez plan on riding most of the year? If you can figure that out then the next question. Who has a bigger presence in that area ?

Ya think that had something to do with his decision ?

Prior to this point, I had never entered the debate regarding the intelligence of Gomez's choice or the reasons for it. All I had done was take issue with your comment that the fields he had beaten were horrendous.

Yes or no: Do you understand this fact?

Yes. I undersand that you change the topic all the time , and then blame me once I give you valid answers.

What we are having on here is a debate. Although it is one sided and you are getting clobbered, it is still a debate. Debates do have times when new points are brought up (ie....value) and these points are addressed. It's funny how you start whining that "I didn't say this, I didn't debate about that", but go back, you hit me with all different points and I answered them.

3- I have a problem with logic? That's hysterical. I think you have problem with basic reading comprehension. Go back and read this thread. You come off beyond embarassing.

Anyways...back to the value thing. You claimed that Dunkirk and POTN will be similar odds. But then on your blog you say this:

. No word yet on where Garrett Gomez will land. As a supporter of Pioneerof The Nile, I guess I want him to ride my horse. But then again, if he were to choose Dunkirk, the odds on POTN would become a lot juicier.

So which is it? In this statement you clearly believe that the horse that Gomez doesn't take will be much higher odds.

This should be good.

By the way, your blog on your Derby dream was cute.

Actually, I think he's right here. Had Gomez chosen Dunkirk he figured to drop a few points to the 8-1 range and POTN would have drifted up, probably to 12-1 or so. Now they'll both be around 10-1. Believe it or not, there's a lot of people out there who handicap jockeys- especially in Kentucky.

Sorry, but I think you are WAY overestimating this. It's a very big pool.

The size of the pool may mute the effect of the jockey cappers, given it's by far the largest of the year. There's no question that on a daily basis, especially in Kentucky, jockeys get bet (and you hear it from people). Remember when Pat Day's mount would open as the favorite in virtually every race at CD?

I do think they will end up being very similar odds at post time, however.

There were a few people at Ellis Park simulcast who I swore had Pat Day real dolls at home.

That began, however, when it was Pat Day against nobody basically. Whenever you see something like that, it is one dominant rider, like Krone or Bravo ( at one time ) in New Jersey or even Ramon this winter. You don't see that when there are a number of top riders.

Gomez is a fine rider, but so are many of these guys, and this whole thing is internet blather, and really not that big a deal. It is probably a money grab anyway.

HaloWishingwell 04-19-2009 06:56 PM

As good as Gomez is how many points will he affect the odds when he hasn't even won a Derby yet?

The Indomitable DrugS 04-19-2009 07:02 PM

What's with the poll?

Trying to score a Justindew VS Stonegossard battle that isn't about the economy is like trying to score a hair pulling - purse swinging - bout between two skinny chicks from the special olympics.

The poll options should be:

A) Stonegossard sucks worse
B) Justindew sucks worse
C) It's about a tie
D) Everyone can go fucl< themselves

Hey, who do you like in The San Juan Capistrano, the race ended about an hour ago. Curious to who you like.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-19-2009 07:35 PM

Five horse fields aren't exactly my thing .... but I surely wouldn't have bet the winner at even money.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful Peter ...

After all, That is actually Justindew's pic as my avatar and not mine.

What sickens me more than anything is that it's such an awful picture of me.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-19-2009 07:49 PM

Exactly why it's such an awesome picture.

it really and truly is signature worthy.

pgardn 04-19-2009 08:14 PM

I think we should be more sensitive towards
our smaller brethren. Hanging them on hooks,
watching them squirm like the little monkeys the are
is not comical.

After this event I request permission to toss them.

No doubt about it! The funny thing is the fact that I can actually picture this.

TheSpyder 04-19-2009 08:24 PM

Yea, and just think if there were two jockeys wanting the mount...the suspence as they see who will be picked up and hung up, and the camera panning to the winner and the looser.

I want to put a pic of Freddy in my avatar. Do you have one you could send me ? I checked the police websites in his area , and suprsingly there wasn't a "wanted" picture of him anywhere.
