I had my best luck ever with the '94 3yo fillies. I made a huge hit on a Sardula-lakeway exacta. And then my biggest single race score ever when heavenly Prize beat Lakeway up here. '98 three year olds drive me to insanity as an example, I never guessed right all year long with those. You know like you miss the wedding on a horse and then you give up and play him and you get to attend the funeral. 98 3Yo's and 96 grass horses sent me to lots of funerals. |

Paradise Creek had an acceleration that would leave Eng Channel and Cacique 5 lengths behind in the blink of an eye. Those were the days.

Totally agree.... his 94 Manhattan was visually spectacular... 10F in 1:57.79 under a hold. It's too bad he couldnt relax in the BC... |
And horses like Skip Away, Cigar and Holy Bull had heart and actually raced!
The 90's sure sucked for music but were great for horse racing. |

Tagg is sort of silly in that every horse he has he says " he/she wants to go long "...other than that I think he's as good a trainer as there is. Honestly, I don't care what anyone says, the job he did with Funny Cide was masterful. His personality prevented him from being hailed as a training genius. I heard, from a reliable source unlike the board liars that formerly posted here, that Showing Up won't return to the dirt because of soundness issues. Makes sense especially in light of what happened at Hollywood. |

I said Holy Bull would have left any of this years glory horses gasping for air. He'd go 46 and change in a two turn route race and still kick away with another gear. |
Mike- Paradise Creek's only really bad race was when Terry threw down 2 grand to win on him. I was there that day. It wasnt pretty. The veins in his head were popping and he was sweating like a marathoner. He then asked me to borrow a grand for the next race.

Mott should have been quoted after that race as saying "Well he trained good and looked good coming into the race and he had a good trip but Terry The Jinx made a big wager on him and it was just too much to overcome. We'll regroup and just do our best and hope Terry doesn't bet him next time out." |
Gander which do you think was a bigger feat? Terry stopping Paradise Creek's great run or Seattleallstar snapping Cambiocorsa's incredible win streak?
|
Cambiorsca for sure. Because she wasnt facing all that great competition that day and still lost, never threatening to be a winner. Paradise Creek was at least facing the best and ran respectable.

7 myself, I blew on My Flag, who beat Flawlessly, and the dead heat in the Met.

Kiri comes up with some truly great stuff!!!! Thanks Kiri, nothing like a trivia walk down memory lane to make us smile. Seems like remembering great horses and races from yesteryear is more fun than remembering the recent 5 horse fields. |
Glad you guys like them...
I'll post Part 3 next week... |
