So the only horse not on the grounds is Lines of Battle?
When is he due to arrive, and what is their thinking behind bringing him in so late??
Also, is O'Brien bringing anyone else along for the undercard stakes?

What are you hearing on Govenor Charlie? On the Roger Stein show they were speculating that he probably won't run because of his foot issue?

There's nothing to hear as Barnes has been trying to get him going. He's quite visible out there on the track hobbling around and we've been discussing it daily on ATR with Mike Welsch. He's struggling. Had one better day earlier in the week and then back in the other direction. Baffert should be out tomorrow and will have to see if they can pull him together.

Wednesday. Philosophy is that if you don't arrive early, arrive as close to the race as possible. There aren't any other UK-based Coolmore runners coming.

:D

Non-restricted stakes earnings would be the decider if non-point earners vie for that 20th slot should it be available... As mentioned, Midnight Lucky suggestions was hyperbolic as she's not nominated.

Kasept 04-28-2013 10:33 AM

With 20th slot in #kyderby field possibly opening up, Paul Aguirre told CD this a.m. that Tiz a Minister should STILL be listed as possible. With Govenor Charlie, Winning Cause, Code West increasingly doubtful, current leaderboard has room for 19. Tiz a Minister & 20. Golden Soul..

Wow...Horse couldn't win a statebred stake yesterday yet they want to try him in the Derby off of 7 days rest.

Aguirre simply told Darren Rogers not to take him off the list yet.. And they said all along that would run in the Snow Chief with potential to come back for Derby if a slot opened. In fairness to him about yesterday, he had no chance with those early fractions.

Alabama Stakes 04-28-2013 10:51 AM

makes the whole points thing pointless.....in 2013

lemoncrush 04-28-2013 11:01 AM

Surprised Dale Romans doesn't have anyone on the Churchill grounds that he would throw into the mix...although he really didn't make any noise at all this spring in the 3-year old division.

Maybe Nick Zito (AKA..nowhere to hide) would fly someone in.:)

But seriously...I certainly wouldn't complain if we only had 18 or 19 starters.

Hollywood Park stable notes list Martin Garcia riding Liason Saturday at Hollywood, which probably give a very good indication that Govenor Charlie is coming out in the coming days, and no follow up on Tiz A Minister was given.

Rosie: "I'm not going to make that noise on 60 minutes." :D

Any impact on Mylute's odds?

rpncaine 04-29-2013 06:37 AM

I think it will. My 73 yr old (slots playing) mom saw it and now she's betting on Rosie. Pretty horsie crowd will eat it up. Too bad cause I like him to hit the board at least.

He might still have some value in exotics....but clearly will be a huge underlay in WPS pools.

Govenor Charlie, Code West officially out...

Danzig 04-29-2013 08:56 AM

since winning cause didn't work, i'd have to think he's not doubtful, but is definite not to run.

Rocktard must be devestated. The GOAT without a Derby starter? An APB is out to check all bridges.

Met him and his father last night at the Allday/Old Friends fundraiser. Very cool kid who seems to be utterly confident and comfortable coming in to this.

Alabama Stakes 04-29-2013 10:42 AM

Krigger was cool when he was at suffolk. Even listened to instructions from railbirds like me.

Is it safe to say Revolutionary will be the Derby favorite ?

Do you really think that anyone with even a modicum of intelligence believes for a second that Krigger paid any attention to anything you yelled at him from the rail let alone took instructions from you as to how he was to ride a horse?

he's my favorite, but i don't have any money so no influence there. i think he wins the derby and preakness and loses the belmont.

why don't you ask him ? do you think when he arrived in east boston he knew more about the suffolk turf course than me ? do you think he was on the rail every saturday after they scraped it ? or any of the other jockeys to whom I give strategic advice. Not all jocks can read the form, and their agents aren't much better. I have already told Calvin to have Rev. up and into the race. He will be in front of more than are in front
of him into the first turn. He will hit the front at the 3/16 pole. That's the plan.

I would bet that if Mr. Byk was advising some of these jocks they would have a much better idea on how to approach the race. He probably could make some money as an advisor. I would bet that Mr. Serling must have advised Mig in the past after some of the well timed winners he rode.

don't be so dismissive. i once yelled at an outfielder to "catch the damn ball!" and he did it.

alabama believes that jockeys take notes from random ninnies in the crowd. and i believe i helped orel hirscheiser close out the mets in the 88 nlcs.

Kasept 04-29-2013 11:48 AM

It's a NO from Tiz a Minister's team. 19 in Derby... for now.
