Lawyer Ron was back to his head strong habits again and i think it cost him.
going to be a very interesting breeders cup.

I think that this race answered a couple of questions about Lawyer Ron.

1-A lot of people wondered about his ability to handle 10f. I thought he handled it fine.

2-A lot of people wondered if he was just thrived at Saratoga. I thought he ran great over the Belmont track.

If Curlin is not in this race today, Lawyer Ron would have run off to yet another dominating victory over the same trash he beat upstate and everyone would be saying that he answered both questions emphatically.

Where's everybody that wrote off Curlin after his Haskell third? This is a big-time colt, who may not have the cuddliest of connections, but runs his ass off, has little distance limitation, is as versatile as any Classic contender and just beat the only BCC horse capable of knocking off the three-year-olds.

Very Nice effort today..just hope he doesn't have a distain for Monmouth Park Track...

Looking like one hell of a Classic!

this must be the first time the derby 1-2-3 finishers all started in the classic, right? i don't remember anything close.

I agree with your assessment. Lawyer Ron got the 10 furlongs fine but he just isnt the same horse at that distance.

What about the truly dominant 1-2-3 finishers of the 1992 Kentucky Derby?
Surely Lil E Tee, Casual Lies, and Dance Floor were all great enough to make it to the classic that year. If they didn't do it, I don't see how any other group could do it.

Curlin looked great today, he is legit.

Lawyer Ron was keen yeserday, but we cannot say for sure if that habit cost him the race.

I think we did see that he does just about get home over ten furlongs, but we also saw that there are others that stay that distance better than he does. We know that both Street Sense and Curlin stay this trip very well, and althought AGS is yet to be tested over it, i think he will also stay ten furlongs without much problem. Until they prove it though, it is difficult to tell.

Lawyer Ron has used that burst of speed at about the mile pole to good advantage so far this year, and it looked as though that had worked yesterday for about half a furlong. Alborado seemed a bit shocked at first with how quickly Lawyer Ron took a length out of him turning into the straight, but Curlin is a stayer, the further they went, the better he looked in my opinion.

A furlong seems like such a small distance for a horse, that it shouldn't make too much of a difference, but to horses that have a sudden turn of foot, like Lawyer Ron, that added furlong is hell. You can question the jockey and ask him why he doesn't delay 'pushing the button' on him, but if he did that he might be caught in no mans land and then find he doesn't quite get to the lead in time.

I'd love to see Lawyer Ron win the Classic, but i just think we will see the same result, where he will be picked off by at least one horse close to the wire.

very impressed by the way curlin gobbles up ground at the end of races. that big stride just did not shorten up.

I think I've had that one thrown at me everytime I've gone on one of my crusades against wildly overrated horses.

You would LOVE to own that horse. Imagine the hot babes that would chase you.. And if that didn't happen, think of all the extra money you would have to buy silky soft socks!

When Lawyer Ron comes off the **** running thru his body it's going to be a horrible thing to watch.
