You cant be a Melo fan?? And clearly it would be more like Bennett, Waiters and a #1. The Knicks need picks.

So if, for example, the Rockets are down to 6 and Dwight Howard fouls out, can you just say Asik is hurt or resting and keep him in?

Well you do get a technical in addition to any regular foul he commits. So an off the ball foul becomes 2 shots and the ball. A shooting foul can be 2 shots plus the technical foul shots plus the ball.

Why would they trade him?

Then fire Woodson and build around Bennett, Shump and Hardaway. Plus the Cavs would def. throw a pick in.

I don't think you'd have to fire Woodson if you did this. He'd surely quit.

Dolan is an idiot but even he isn't that stupid

Let's pretend for a minute that the Knicks would do this if Cleveland gave them Bennett, Waiters, and 3 number 1's or something like that. What are the odds that Anthony would re-up with Cleveland? 200-1?

lol

One thing I can always count on from this thread is a good laugh.

You don't get the ball for a tech in the NBA, only flagrants. Possession remains where it was. It is rarely going to ever come up, but it could be abused, that is all I'm saying. I don't like that a guy is dressed and DNP-Rest, yet they can keep a guy in that fouled out.

Not particularly, but you said build around three average players.

Get rid of the salary. Plus Brown hates him.

How can they tell if a guy is injured or not? They dont designate DNP's until after the game.

What could you possibly hope to get for him now unless he is included in some sort of package with other guys? They dont have a whole lot of money committed for next year especially if they move Varejao. I suppose they might be making space for LeBron but the chances him coming back to that mess are slimmer than slim.

I guess the guy that made the pick just got fired so anything is possible. Of course that might mean Brown is on shakier grounds too. You'd just think they'd ride it out another year and see if he can raise his value just a little bit.The guy is shooting 28% from the field lol.

Exactly...so if they have the choice between putting a scrub in that hasn't played, or keeping a star in that *might* foul and result in an extra free throw, nothing more, that seems like an easy choice.

If a guy is dressed and hasn't played, how can he be hurt? Easy rule to fix, you don't dress if you can't play.

Being that it has happened once in 30 years I doubt they will bother changing rules. Especially ones that allowed Robert Sacre more playing time.

I agree, they won't, until somebody abuses it.

Should be quite the lineup Popovich puts out there tonight against the Nets. Saw where Diaw is questionable now too.

Obviously he doesn't get the recognition that Aldridge and Lillard get, but without him I don't think Portland is in the position they are and I doubt they're even in the playoff discussion...he's a big key to their success.
