That's when I have the most energy, too(3-5 hours after eating too much.) That's why I don't really understand why baseball teams have an open buffet after the game. Seems to me it would be better to eat a lot about 3-5 hours before the game.

What's so unusual about that?

TheSpyder 08-13-2008 02:34 PM

I laughed...then burped.

Replenishing the used stored muscle glycogen is best within the first 2 hours post-exercise. So I guess there is perhaps some small scientific justification for that. But I somehow doubt that's why they do that :D

I heard or read something that the USA team uses a ratio of 2.37 grams carb per gram of protein for post-ex replenishment (or 2.67, I forget ...) The most amazing thing was seeing Phelps blowing out after his 200 butterfly (was that last night?), then the team getting him back fit WITHIN ONE HOUR to run a relay - unbelievable ...

i have a question about beach volleyball, why do the women dress in these skimpy bikinis, while the men have long shorts and shirts? shouldn't the men have to wear speedos or an equivalent? i'm fine with it but I would think womens groups would complain about exploitation or something.

I don't think women's sports would be very watchable if they didn't do stuff like that, and a lot of men wouldn't watch men play sports if they had close to nothing on. So, to answer your question, it's to satisfy the male viewer. Yea, women watch some of this stuff, but notice how long they do it for. They get a call...They stop watching.....They remember that they need to do an errand..They are gone....etc. etc.. Men are more apt to say leave me the f alone. I am watching this. We will do this afterwards. Here's a 50. Go buy us some pie.

i knew the answer, I was just wondering why you don't hear any complaints from women.

TheSpyder 08-13-2008 04:49 PM

Not sure that is the right answer. Some wacky gay designer for a big name sports apparel company comes up with these designs and the athletes are told...would you wear this for $50K in endorsements?

And they say sure!

FGFan 08-14-2008 12:42 PM

That's really a mess they are relying on passports that are issued in China...to think China wouldn't falsify birthdates to compete for gold....

So back to swimming....

Coach what's up with the rogue russian swimming with all his hair?

I had to laugh in the swim off they were going on and on about the beard that was finally shaved, and he's swimming next to the russian with a full head of hair...I know the other guy was little compared to the Russian, but.......

Coach Pants 08-14-2008 10:16 PM

Lochte took my loot!

Oh well he's a good guy. Glad he got an individual gold.

Big night for the U.S. and A. Soni had an unreal swim.

Still believe the girls are underperforming, however.

They all are suffering from that dreaded "intestinal disorder". That or they are too busy going out and getting hammered and putting the 100,000 condoms in the Olympic village to good use. Why do you think Phelps wants to cutback on his events next Olympics? It's not cause he wants less gold medals.

Sorry he took your loot....but I think he really did deserve that, he's been in the shadows of everyone else, finally it was his time to shine.

Soni's swim was fantastic.
Maybe so about the women underperforming, but I think more that it is not the favorites winning and the 2nd tier is showing up. And the 15 year old Elizabeth ???? is doing really well.

Big night tonite....
A 32 and 41 year old face off.

GO DARA, GO DARA!!!!

GO MICHAEL, GO MICHAEL!!!!

Heels1989 08-15-2008 09:18 PM

ninetoone 08-15-2008 09:47 PM

Cavic threw the challenge flag after the touch.

Coach Pants 08-15-2008 11:04 PM

He's going to be getting some A-list poon.

jwkniska 08-16-2008 10:15 AM

I'm about tired of NBC and their Phelps is the best athlete ever in the olympics. Best swimmer, YES... best performance by an individual in the olympics... ABSOLUTELY

But... best athlete better be able to beat one of the old school guys that went pro in THREE sports (baseball, football, track), Jim Thorpe. Phelps can swim and swim only, so he's not even on my list as best athlete ever in the olympics.

He's got a neat little town named after him too, but athletes now a days are far superior to the ones back then, IMO.
