Arlington Park, Race 8, post 4:45 Central Time News Bulletin: At the Kennedy Space Center, scientists believe they have perfected a secret missle project codenamed Nasa Slew. NASA is reporting that daredevil rocketeer Jessie Campbell has bravely volunteered to duct tape himself to the newly refined missle, and he will attempt to be launched into outer space from a pad in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Should the #5 Nasa Slew missle indeed obtain orbit, it will be a first, as in four earlier test fires, only once has the missle actually fired. The other three times it just blew up on the pad. Odds makers are giving 8/1 that the Nasa Slew missle just blows up again. A prayer service for Jesse has been scheduled to coincide with today's launch. I have $40 that says the Nasa Slew project Wins today. Go Baby Go!! |

Scientists at Cape Canaveral have reported the Nasa Slew missle test was thwarted when the parachute prematurely opened at top speed just as the rocket was about to reach orbit. The rocket was recovered in Lake Michigan. However, Nasa reports, "Brave rocketeer Jesse Campbell had only half a** duct taped himself to the powerful rocket and when the parachute prematurely opened the duct tape snapped and Jesse was shot like a rubber band into eternal orbit around Uranus". Nasa Slew SHOWS at $7.60. Todays wager: $40 bet, return $0. Coast to Coast WPS record: 11 starts, 1-1-5. Total called wagers to date: $354 bet, $78 return. Dr. SwineSmeller |

8/13/08 Racing Coast to Coast, Del Mar
8/14/08 Racing Coast to Coast with Dr. SwineSmeller
Del Mar, Races 2,3 and 5. Second race post 2:32 Pacific time. As I scanned the Del Mar card for any possible sharp angle today, the angle that surfaced was that of a triangle of goat riders. Three of Del Mars very best goat riders, Mike Smith-Alex Solis-and Garrett Gomez, each get only one shot to milk the Del Mar goat today, each in a different race, and each will yank their nanny's udders from the far outside post position. Two of the goat riders are given an 8/1 chance of filling their goatmilk bucket first, while the other is a 2/1 favourite for his goatmilk bucket to runneth over. The theory in the betting strategy is that percentages are triplicated within the triangle...As, (1) I can get an even return at worse should one of the goat herders win their only race of the day, or, (2) should the outside post can win one of three races, or. (3) should I get plain old lucky and hit a pick. ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************** In race 2, Veteran goat herder Mike Smith will go in the stall with veteran nanny, Film Editor. But,at six years of age, Mike's veteran goat is fresh as she has only been in 14 goat milking contests, going 3-3-4 for $147,000 gallons of goatmilk. Bred in California, #6 Film Editor has the home stall advantage over the always powerful backwoods Kentucky goat milking teams. Goat trainer Art Sherman doesn't have many goats to train, but most all of his goats can eat a whole pile of tin cans on any given day. I'll play the milkdud, Film Editor, for $44 WIN. Go Baby Go!! ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************** In race 3, a herd of California bred goats will munch on the Del Mar grass. When goat lover Jerry Fanning was asked if his horny goat was a good one or baahahad one, the hillbilly said She's A Real Keeper. Goat rider Alex Solis agrees and he will give #7 She's A real Keeper his best shot of creme. Alex has requested a pair of safety goggles and a hard hat before he yanks this nanny's udders, and Fanning obliged. I'll play the cream dream, She's A real Keeper, for $44 WIN. Whoa Baby Whoa!! ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************** In race 5, mister goat rider himself, Jerky Gomez, gets to mount a fine looking and honest Kentucky bred goat named Truthy. Word is, Gomez is extremely excited. Gomez will team with top Del Mar goat trainer, John Sadler. When a goat milking contest fan can get an 8/1 butter shot teaming the USA's top goat rider with Del Mar's top goat trainer, that's 100% real butter that can be quickly transformed into gourmet goat cheese. I'll play the all buttered up, Truthy, for $44 WIN. Go Baby Go!! Dr. SwineSmeller |

Film Editor 8-1 m/l: * Off Since June with an abysmal work tab ( all Handily, and failed to show anything - EDIT: All workouts are listed as "H" - may be a Formulator issue?) *Only 2 starts this year prior to the last effort which was a well beaten last (soundness problem maybe?? ). *Draws far outside post and shows zero speed * Tyler Baze rode her last, and jumps to the 2 Nice pick ;) She's a Real Keeper 2-1 m/l * Worst chalk play on the card *Horse needs to run uncovered and Solis took her wide both turns last which cost the win; now has to deal with the shute turn as well with little speed and far outside post * 5 Wild fleece is way more tactical and draws a much better post. If you're eating chalk, atleast you get 5-2 on her Truthy 8-1 m/l * Sadler 7% 1st start * Draws far outside going 5 1/2f * Dull work pattern I'm sure the good doctor's response would be somewhere along the lines of,"HAY GUYZ SOMEONE PAID 220K FOR HIM....WINNAR!!!!!!!" - When actually they paid 220K and are offering him for 100K first start - not too much of a Red Flag  :zz: |

8/14/08 Del Mar results and recap, In The Spotlight.
In race 2, Mike Smith could only get about three good squirts in his milk bucket from Film Editor and the two goats were washed up early. Film Editors agent, Goofy, reports that Film Editor has also opted out of his racing contract and will be joining Jungle Cat on Disney's Tarzan set as a volunteer errand runner for the film room. Best of luck in that venture. In race 3, team Beverly hillbillies said they couldn't love their goat more as She's A Real Keeper filled the milk bucket in a flash. The crew of hillbliies said that after the races they were all going to the theatre to watch a special 25 year anniversary showing of Deliverance. After the movie, Ned Beaty and Burt Reynolds will join the team on a commemorative float trip somewhere up in the Sierra Madres. She's A Real Keeper WINS and pays $4.00, $3.00, $2.20. In race 5, Jerky Gomez pulled a groin when he got too excited as he loaded in the stall with Truthy. Jerky had to be replaced by substitute goatmilker J Rosario. Rosario was able to muster up just enough buttter to get Truthy's butter bucket filled first as the dynamic duo held at 8/1. Truthy WINS and pays $18.40, 8.20, $5.00. In The Spotlight Stats: Todays Wagers: $132, return $492.80. Total Called Wagers to date: $486 bet, return $570.80. WPS Record: 14 starts, 3-1-5. Mythical $2 Win Bet on Each= $28 bet, $27.60 return. 8/15/08 In The Spotlight with Dr. SwineSmeller
Saratoga Race 8, post 4:56 Eastern time. And, Del Mar Race 8, post 7:02 Pacific Time. The featured 8th race at Saratoga today is the $150,000 Lake Placid Stakes matching a group of classy hot legged three year old fillies, going 1 1/8 miles on the grass. At first glance the field looks evenly matched in class, but the distance lover Backseat Rhythm is actually wearing both of Cinderella's glass slippers, and she was just seen heading toward the prince's ball. Backseat Rhythm began racing as a two year old and has made 10 lifetime starts, finishing 2-1-3 in what at first appears to be an average record. The not so average though is the $367,000 in pumpkins she has picked along the way, this with only one win outside her maiden victory. Backseat Rhythm finished third in last years Breeders' Cup Juvenile for fillies, and she also grabbed a second place finish in the Grade I Frizette. No other filly in this field has faced close to that level of competition. Jockey J J Castellano will take the reins for trainer Patrick Reynolds. Castellano's 2008 statistics suit this race well. While Castellano's name can't be found on the USA top 25 jocks list in wins, he comes in at number 10 in purse money earned. That statistic translates to Castellano stepping it up when the big money is on the line. It also says that a contingent of top shelf owners and trainers have a ton of confidence in Castellano, and when they ring his phone, they have their racers well prepared. Backseat Rhythm is listed at 6/1 in the sunrise odds, and will break from the #6 gate with a 4 pound weight allowance under the two soft favourites. I Lost My Choo gets the sunrise nod at 3/1, while Raw Silk, a beautiful chestnut $440,000 purchase comes in at 7/2. Given an even break, this group of classy ladies just might find themselves trying to wipe Backseat Rhythm's freshly mowed grass out of their eyes when she straightens for home and charges for the wire. I'm tuning up for a little Backseat Rhythm today at Saratoga. I'll play Backseat Rhythm for $20 WIN....I'll also play a $4 exacta box coupling #6 Backseat Rhythm with #8 Raw Silk. Go Baby Go!! ************************************************** ************************************************** ********************************* In race 8 at Del Mar, a field of 10 two year old fillies will race 6 furlongs for a purse of $42,000. Senior veteran jockey Mike Smith gets a single mount on the card for the second consecutive day at Del Mar, and again he has drawn the far outside gate. Doggie Bear is trained by the always dangerous Doug O'Neill. The attraction to Doggie Bear comes in the form of the 15/1 sunrise odds. Doggie Bear makes her racing debut in a field of evenly matched two year olds in a race that appears to be anybody's game to win, and rarely should one let Mike Smith get off at 15/1 without a play, especially when in with a group of inexperienced two year olds claimers. The far outside #10 gate should be an advantage at this one turn distance, as Doggie Bear is all but guaranteed a trouble free break and a clear run down the backstretch. Bowie At Saratoga gets the 5/2 favouritism, but this is Del Mar Park in California, not New York, Bowie At Srartoga may be wiping the Del Mar corral dust out of his eyes and looking for I-40 East out of LA, right along with In The Poconos, after this one. #2 Pick To Click figures to hit the tote, as Bob Baffert teams up with Jerky Gomez. I'll play Doggie Bear horse for $12 WIN.... I'll also play a $2 exacta box coupling #10 Doggie Bear and #2 Pick To Click....Go Baby Go!! Dr. SwineSmeller |

Backseat Rhythm pays $14.40, $6.80, $5.30. Exacta play Raw Silk finishes 3rd. $28 bet, $144 return. In The Spotlight statistics: Todays wagers: $44 bet, $144.00 return. This Reply I've Patiently Waited to Make to You Jim...
Quote:
I hope you learn this Jim. The old man that gave me that advice was a friend and fellow Arkansan, whom trained for W Cal Partee, and Pat Day won the Kentucky Derby on his trainee, Lil' E Tee. (I'll let you figure out his name Jim). He gave me many more tidbits of advice that I'm willing to share (only a couple). 1st> He taught me that most horse track gamblers simply play picks, but they do not know how to track and play a bankroll. They key he said, is not how many winners you can pick, but rather how you manage your bank. He said racing is a game with an odds board, so to be successful, one must use the odds board in his favor (and chunk the paper), not simply pick winners, as any horse can win any given race. He never bought a Daily Racing Form, after his advice I never have either in the last 20 years. Cuz exactly like the wise old man said Jim, "Son, paper don't race". 2nd> And this, the most important piece of advice that old man gave me... He said, "Son, you have to know when to let the door slap you in the @ss to be a successful gambler". Though I said that I have 25 more days to show a profit, I didn't say I'd play 25 more. Therefore, as I have done for correctly for 20 years now, I'm taking that wise old man's advice once again, and I'm cashing in my profit and letting that perverbial door slap me in the @ss hard and heavy. You would better yourself too Jim if you'd listen to old folks when they try to teach you something. I hope the last week has been as fun and profitable for all of you as it was for me. (This is my sweetest ever victory!, as I have never ran a thread that didn't show a worthwhile profit. Read the In The Spotlight thread's profit line posted above). So, I hereby resign my thread, In The Spotlight with Dr. SwineSmeller, as a proven Winner!!! And all of those that have posed as racetrack know-it-all critic @ssholes for the last week can kiss my rosy red, exit-door spanked, WINNER @ss. See ya'!! Wish you would have stuck around a bit longer. Hey we still have Del Mar running until about Labor Day.
I thought you were an interesting addition to the message board and never could understand all the people that were so anxious to throw stones. Well maybe I do understand since I've sadly seen this type of behavior before. Certainly understand you wanting to leave but please stop by again in the future. |
