He broke down yesterday while in training and couldn't be saved. A shame. http://www.pedigreequery.com/ten+cents+a+shine Candy Box was euthanized today. Poor girl. DRF..... Candy Box euthanized Candy Box, a minor stakes winner owned and bred by Frank Stronach, broke down after finishing a five-furlong workout Monday morning at Belmont Park and had to be euthanized. Candy Box, a 5-year-old daughter of Running Stag, was galloping out after working five furlongs in 59.43 seconds in preparation for a start in Sunday's Grade 3, $150,000 Hendrie Stakes at Woodbine. Trainer Bruce Levine said Candy Box fell after the work and broke her elbow. She needed to be euthanized. Exercise rider Jesus Romero was taken to a local hospital for observation. Candy Box, a half-sister to minor stakes winners Beta Capo and Alpha Capo, finished second in the Grade 2 Distaff Breeders' Cup Handicap at Aqueduct on March 24. She had a record of 4-5-0 from 13 starts and earned $205,520. http://www.drf.com/news/article/84704.html |

Sinister G.....
Rest in peace. By DAVID GRENING DRF Sinister G euthanized Sinister G, winner of the Grade 2 Lane's End Stakes at Turfway Park in 2004, died Tuesday due to complications from colic, his owner, John Toscano III, said Wednesday. Sinister G was 6. According to Toscano, Sinister G began to colic Tuesday night and was rushed from his Delaware Park barn to the New Bolton equine hospital in Pennsylvania. "He had a twisted colon and a ruptured bowel," said Toscano, who trained the horse early in his career before giving him to Scott Lake. "He was too far gone and they couldn't save him." Sinister G, a son of Matty G, won 8 races from 37 starts and banked $599,469 |
Zcake, who was running in a 4K claimer and who, like all of them, deserves to be remembered. She was 4 years old.
From Pedigree query..... Tragically, 5/4/07 $4K clm Fairmount 5, threw her rider/ran off in post parade, was retrieved, raced, showed no speed off inside, floated out into stretch, gave way, then broke down past the wire and was euthanized. Run in peace. |
