1. I've hit many bets by following his plays on Talking Horses.

2. He almost always answers my PM questions.

3. My kids approached him in the paddock several weeks ago. Despite his hectic schedule on race days, and not knowing them from Adam, he spoke to them for a bit.

As my mother used to tell me, "Go do something constructive!"

well, that wouldn't be any fun, would it?

it's like stuart on mad tv... 'look what i can do'.

Having said that I would encourage every one to listen to him when he discusses the horses but it should end there.

Hey that old lady deserved to be sucker punched by Andy! Everyone knows Bill Mott can train his cat to go in a litter box...after all he is a Hall of Fame Trainer.

I don't post much but I have to comment on this. My husband (SouthBeachLuv) and I met Andy at Saratoga last year and he was incredibly kind. We had visited Belmont Park the day before heading up to Saratoga and he ensured that we had a wonderful time at both tracks (it had been a longtime dream of mine to visit Ruffian's grave, and thanks to Andy, I was able to do so).

Andy's online persona may be harsh, but so what? It's who you are in person that matters, and he's a stand-up guy.

i have much respect for those in the industry, public figures, who come here and post..or more. we are lucky enough to have several people come and give out advice, their opinions, their points of view.
i have no respect for someone who comes here and gripes at them, especially when it's done anonymously!
everyone knows who andy is, steve, etc, etc, and they come here and weather all the slings and arrows. i'm still not happy that some others in the industry, owners and the like, quit coming because they got tired of the bs from some around here.
you don't have to be a fan, but these people don't need to come here and start threads like this either.

I agree there--we're lucky to be able to interact so freely with some of the figureheads of the racing industry. OP is a troll and nothing more :)

Let me continue with the canonization ceremonies. I met St. Andy back in...............never mind.

The lad has an effervescence about him that permeates throughout a crowd. Last week's show at the Parting Glass with interviews with the Chief and Jerry Bailey was a classic for every serious horse racing fan. I really wish I could attend tonight's event.

Before his halo blinds you, I will add that a colleague witnessed Andy standing on a phone book that included all five boroughs of New York just to use the big boy's urinal.

Thanks for having my back.

The haters are OK....as long as they're listening!

tector 08-30-2013 12:08 AM

Everybody has cold streaks. Most of us are fortunate enough to have them privately. People like Andy and Doug don't have that luxury.

To the OP- Sorry that your post got blown out of proportion. I got what you were saying.

The best message board posters/handicappers are gonna troll, and you gave them the ammo. But I interpreted your post as positive. I wish you didn't follow up with that low paying NYRA gig post, but I get the positive intent in the original post.

Trollers gonna troll.

He pretty much exposed himself as the troll and here you are defending him? His posts have been only meant to slight, as anyone with a shred of a brain can see.

pmayjr 08-30-2013 06:45 AM

what? The original post was that Andy Serling was cool enough to admit that his picks weren't good at Toga lately. That was the intent.

So it caused his friends to go broke. OK. But what the OP was saying was that he thought it was classy that Andy tweeted/admitted (which he did, I saw the Tweet) that his picks weren't good lately.

Now that whole thing about the low-paying NYRA post was really stupid to add, but the original post's intent was positive.

pmayjr 08-30-2013 06:47 AM

It was stupid to start a thread about this... but in a dumb way the intent was positive.

It wasn't positive.

It was a troll, doing a rather weak job of trolling.

The poor troll, in his fantasy world, was the victim of 'disparaging public remarks' made against him when BTW was supposedly trashing the good people of the horse racing industry.

It was completely phony and ridiculous.

A few years back, Miguel Cabrera made disparaging comments about my dog Arnie. I just wish I knew what, if any, boards he posts at or reads, so I could troll him the next time he has a bad week or goes into an 0-for-18 slump. His slump will cost my imaginary friends, a whole lot of imaginary money, but I will take the high road and call him a classy guy because he'll tell reporters stuff like he wasn't expecting an off-speed pitch on a 3-2 count, and was cheating on the fastball.

Alabama Stakes 08-30-2013 09:06 AM

mangy mutt

To be fair to Cabrerra, Artie looks like he has a touch of the mange, and his breath is as bad as his farts....just sayin
