Well done, Drosselmeyer. Clearly he liked the distance. And I'm very happy for Mike Smith. Above all else, everyone appears to have finished the race in good shape. Except Nick Zito . . .

From the land of the bizarre... Uptowncharlybrown was DQ'd from 5th to last due to losing the 8 lb. lead weight pad on the backstretch.

Given that he was 3 clear of 6th, the difference didn't mean anything to even the staunchest of weight proponents.

The winner also dropped some useless weight.......his previous jockey.

It is clear that one of the conditions of Pattersons bailout loan to the nyra was that they play the JayZ rap song before the Belmont. He was caught trying to give the slots at the big A to jayz. abc showed great courage by going to a commercial during the song..

Imagine if the horse had won... with the all the feel-good stories surrounding the horse no less.

Yeah no kidding... imagine trying to explain THAT to a bunch of people that don't normally watch racing.

LOL

Random side note... I love Maragh's Jamaican accent when they interview him.

Is it? I'm not so sure. Joe Tessitore also repeatedly referred to that whole business as a "fabulous story." Fabulous? The dude died. If anything it is a sad story. Perhaps it is a fabulous story for ESPN because they always want to have some 'pull at the heartstrings' angle, but that hardly makes it a "fabulous" story for anyone involved.

As for the race itself....it actually made me nostalgic for the Jazil-Bluegrass Cat-Sunriver race from a few years back....which is saying a lot.

just glad first dude didn't win, knowing who was there to watch him run.

If I didn't think so highly of Bill Mott, I probably would have vomited. So, for Mott's sake, I can live with it.

Next race....

I did not watch the races, nor have I kept up to date on this stuff. Who are you referring to?

You easterners sure are a closed minded bunch.

Politics aside, I thought in her cap and sunglasses she was high on the "hot as Sandra Bullock" scale today.
