What phenom of Turfway Park was purchased privately before the Derby and went on to win a G1 while beating a BC Classic Winner and a Dubai World Cup Winner?

Incidentally, I don't follow breeding, but has he produced anything?

This might be a little before some of your time.

There was a time when a jockey would get a 3lb weight allowance.

1-What was the reason?
2-What was the symbol used in the racing form?
3-Who was the last one?
You guys get this you're good.

1. Women used to get an allowance.
2. The symbol used is the one Prince has used (i'm pretty sure about this)
3. Mary Bacon.

No, it was the horse with Yutaki Take, I think El Senor, in the now defunct Seneca.

What's funny is that when I teased Kurt about it on the show this year he even had the wrong horse...and then told me I was right later.

Kurt is one of the funniest guys in the world.

And...he's certainly a great character!

I've never met him, but he seems it. I don't play poker and I even like his columns about it.

What horse owns the second longest length victory next to Secretariat's 31 length romp in the Belmont. It was his maiden breaker at Belmont in the summer of '89...one word name and made his next start at Saratoga in the race after Easy Goer's Whitney triumph.

blackthroatedwind 12-20-2006 10:03 PM

Good luck to someone getting that one off the top of their head.

The margin was 29 lengths and he was a N.Y. bred

Tobasco Cat was 2nd in the SA Derby, won the Grade III Real Derby and won the Grade II San Rafael.

blackthroatedwind 12-20-2006 10:29 PM

Was Orientate a Storm Cat?

At first I thought this couldnt be right, but the more I research this the more i am beginning to think there really is only 1--which is hard to believe.

blackthroatedwind 12-20-2006 10:38 PM

The answer is a funny one....Good Reward.

Hollywood Derby and Manhattan.

eurobounce 12-20-2006 10:40 PM

Out of 1020 foals he has had only one son win a Grade I in New York and Cali. That is sort of unreal.

Wow---great job BTW. There is no way I would have ever of guessed him. Now that is a pretty good trivia question.

blackthroatedwind 12-20-2006 10:42 PM

If Kirisclown was here he would have gotten it instantly.

eurobounce 12-20-2006 10:43 PM

He is standing at Three Chimneys for $15k live foal. Not too bad of a price. He was very durable for a Storm Cat off spring.

I actually bet him in the Hollywood Derby. That was a race that the jockey, Bailey, had a LOT to do with winning. I guess you could say the same for the Manhattan.

Funny that Heavenly Prize, and Storm Cat, would win Grade 1s on the turf.
