"I will remain the Oklahoma State coach and have a bowl game to prepare for."
- Les Miles, late 2003 just before flip-flopping and jumping to LSU

I'm such a degenerate poopie.

Mortimer 12-12-2007 05:35 PM

Call for Mr. Miles.

There's a Ms. Ann Arbor on the phone for you. Says she has a weather report you've been expecting?

Ah dunno.

Mortimer 12-12-2007 07:36 PM

Should Daniel Elsberg kept his big mouth shut, too?

Ah dunno.

Mortimer 12-12-2007 07:38 PM

Shouldn't the Washington Post reporters zipped it until Nixon got out of office?

Hey....don't look at me.

So Miles denies it all..as they always do....and all of a sudden there's a contract extension. It played well due to the upcoming SEC champ. game and possible ( and now for sure) nc game.

And Miles was just caught talking to Michigan over the phone a few days ago...again...about everything except he being hc at Michigan...supposedly.

So it all kinda makes one think this isn't over until early January. There's a faction at Michigan that doesn't want Miles and maybe these are where "contacts" come into play.

Miles is their no. 1 guy, though. I still think he goes there...but we'll see.

It sure cheats the players .

I'll be very surprised too if Miles isn't at Michigan next year. He has a team in the hunt for a national championship. He is simply doing all the right things to keep that going as you said. The contract...the talk...the everything. I can't imagine why on earth he would leave the Michigan buyout in the contract if he is all about LSU?? If Michigan doesn't have a coach hired before the championship game I think the writing is on the wall.

Unless I'm wrong of course.

That was good stuff...of course. He may not go there...but that will be a shock to me if he doesn't.

I should mention Dannie refuses to attend MOTO class here anymore so the words kind of are wasted now.

Danzig 12-14-2007 10:51 PM

well, they met. no speculation there.

Mortimer 12-14-2007 11:30 PM

I saw nothing in your report confiming this ma'am.

Mortimer 12-15-2007 02:14 PM

Well Sporty Fans...contrary to the dipstick reportage you get from Dannie..I have confirmed RR did in fact meet with Michigan per his "press conference" today:

Mountaineer head coach Rich Rodriguez addressed the press after practice Saturday morning, but didn't have much to say about the recent reports that he met with officials at the University of Michigan.

"It may be disappointing to you, but I'm not going to talk about any rumors or innuendos or jobs or whatever else is floating out there. I'm not going to talk about that at all," Rodriguez told reporters. "I'm not talking about anything other than this year's team, this season and this year's bowl preparations."

When pressed, Rodriguez told reporters "You all have not understood what I just said. One more question and unfortunately this conference will end."
\Reporters then went on to ask questions about the bowl.

Mountaineer players did speak to reporters about the rumors, some are just as surprised as fans.

"I know just as much as you guys," Pat McAfee told reporters, adding he was "shocked" to hear the reports.

Vaughn Rivers said, "No he hasn't addressed us. So I don't think it's too serious."

Ryan Mundy, who played at Michigan before coming to WVU offered a unique perspective to the rumors. He told reporters that at Michigan there is a lot of pressure on not only the coaches, but also the players.

Mundy said at Michigan a national championship is a "reachable goal" every year,

When asked what he thinks about the rumors, Steve Slaton said, "I don't think about it," and "I don't think it's a distraction."

-----------------------

And that's right from BIG LIAH RR's own big mouth.

Mortimer 12-15-2007 02:30 PM

Did I ever tell you I was my hero?

=;>

Mortimer 12-15-2007 06:53 PM

Dannie Baby..........update please.

Danzig 12-16-2007 12:00 AM

i think this is the closest michigan has come to getting a coach. it's funny, miles adamantly denied the deal being done, in pretty bald language. i will be lsus coach next season. but the speculation continued, even after he signed his extension...of course petrino signed one of those, after one of his deals went south...the move to the raiders maybe? and five days later he was trying to go to lsu. so you can definitely see why some think all coaches are lying if their lips are moving.
now rodriguez is saying nothing, which imo speaks volumes. refusing to comment is all i'm seeing.

of course rodriguez flirted with bama last year, so who knows?

Danzig 12-16-2007 12:09 AM

just read that someone who 'knows someone' inside wva says the deal is done, and will be announced tomorrow.
the wva AD said in an article i read earlier that it 'won't be long' and players know something is up, but they aren't supposed to comment.

i can see turning down 'bama and staying at wva, but turn down michigan?? and of course it was that school who provided mich with their new bball coach last spring.

Mortimer 12-16-2007 10:01 AM

This is sounding serious.

Les Miles will be furious.

Mortimer 12-16-2007 01:31 PM

Dannie-poo....are further updates going to be made available to us?

There seems to be too much silence for a lot not to be going on.

Danzig 12-16-2007 02:01 PM

rodriguez told his players this morning he is indeed going to michigan.

so will he and miles share an office?? les and his michigan buddies sure are going to great lengths to keep the lsu players focused on the title game.

that's why i thought something was going on. all the silence and the 'no comments'. quiet as a funeral in wva.

will not coach the mountaineers in the bowl game, which has players unhappy. but i agree with him not doing so. as i've heard before, you cannot serve two masters. press conference tomorrow morning to make a formal announcement.

he's not there yet. he still has time back out like he did on Bama last year.

You mean he WILL answer questions about rumors floating around out there?

and as for the extension...i guess that's between miles and lsu. he agreed to it, they asked for it. no doubt everyone has their reasons. les says he wants to stay for a long time, maybe ten years from now he'll want to leave. who knows?

hell, petrino signed for five, and didn't even finish one.

not only that last year when he left louisville he had just signed an extension with them for 10 years and left.

don't forget nick saban said the same thing at l.s.u. not leaving for the n.f.l. said it twice in two seasons.

Danzig 12-17-2007 05:42 PM

it is a shame that so many coaches only view their current job as the stepping stone to their next one.
too few joe paternos around these days.

i wasn't sure what les would do a few weeks ago, but i felt confident after his sec-day press conference. i got a lot of grief here, at work, and my husband did as well, for saying he was staying. turned out well in the end.

it's funny, all these hawg fans that we told 'wait til petrino does you like he has every one else' said 'well, les is leaving, you'll be looking for a coach too'. one, they were wrong, and two, two wrongs wouldn't have made it right.

I ( gag) have to say ...you were correct in saying he will stay.

But I shan't ever forgive you for it.
