what exactly were you trying to infer about all of us? I guess hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Word games don't cut it...you know the difference (at least I hope you do). But please, don't presume to speak for me, how I think, what I feel!

Yep, the usual response! Must be a hypocrite for speaking the truth! Again, I was responding to Buffy's point...I don't recall using names!

I know all of my shortcomings...as she may have known all of hers...but I'm not a public figure, nor do I desire to be. She wanted nothing less than fame...and got it...and like it or not a person in the public eye will have to endure the public's scrutiny of their lifestyle...is it judgemental? absolutely...but it's also a reality.
But I would love to have some one point out some of her good works...because I personally haven't heard of any.
I was taught that family is number one priority and that charity begins at home...these are beliefs that I hold very strongly...they appear to run counter to what Ms. Smith believed (at least as evidenced by many of her actions)...and so while I think her early death is too bad I don't feel bad for her...she lived the life that she wanted.

I give up...whatever makes you feel good! I'm done, made my point as best I could!

I don't get it...who were these "others' then you were speaking about?

You're very intelligent and you can see how that can be construed as a cheap shot on the people you don't agree with.

Maybe I'm a dummy...I'm missing something.

No, you're just personalizing my statement...obviously, if you read what I posted IN CONTEXT, you realize that I make a global statement with regards to OTHERS...like THEM for example. Society operates in measurable ways, using known dogma and thought-structures, we live in a society filled with racism, sexism...a whole lot of "isms". I make generalizations about society as a whole to avoid attacking individuals...it isn't people that are the problem, taken individually folks are good and caring...but we are conditioned from birth in some ways...many are productive but some are not! We are taught to fear others who we perceive as different than ourselves and that fear often turns to hate. We judge folks badly if they are "different" or don't fit some societal norm...that is and always has been my point! It is not up to me to judge another person's inate goodness...we all make judgements...do we let our child go with this person, do we loan this person money...but that's different that a public condemnation of someone who's life just ended...

fair enough, I guess the caps got through to me:rolleyes:

Personally, I also think generalizations, or stereotypes, also feed the forementioned "isms" you speak about. This thread was about the media and and the ridiculous saturation as of late. Somehow it was turned into a lack of morality, compassion. I can't speak for anyone but I honestly believe most didn't think it's good her life ended...

Hopefully, when I'm older life will be so black and white...but right now I sure see an awful lot of gray

I agree that generalizations when applied to groups or individuals are harmful and often inaccurate, but applying generalizations to a society as a whole is often useful...ie: most Americans identify Christianity as their faith, most Americans are of European descent. You are also correct that life isn't black and white rather a constant struggle to decide between shades of grey, there are however certain principles that are black and white...the trick is deciding how they apply to certain situations.

Oh, the angst over the death of this great woman....

As pillow biters without a life gather to keep a vigil under the swaying palm fronds surrounding the bunker where the Anna Nicole circus was stabled, hoping to catch a glimpse of Howard k. Stern watching his meal ticket evaporate into the bright Bahamian sky, please try to remember one little factoid about this story. IT WAS ANNA FREAKING NICOLE SMITH. The world didn't lose Nelson Mandella. The President of the United States wasn't shot by an assassin. A space shuttle full of scientists aboard didn't blow up upon re-entry into the atmosphere. All that happened was that the traveling media starved freak show that was called the life of Anna Nicole Smith has finally hit its expiration date. If you are really really sad about her death, don't be. She parlayed her no talent/trailer park mentality into a pretty amusing, event filled life, all done on her terms. Now let the big girl, and her equally big g-string, move on from our consciousness so we can concentrate on something we can all care about, like picking up the form and finding a couple of live ones on tomorrow's program

Are you saying my pain isn't real?

Cajungator26 02-14-2007 10:54 PM

She was still a human being. I feel terrible for her baby... but whatever.

It will be interesting to see how many folks line up to praise this post...something here to offend pretty much anyone...I suspect it will be a real hit!
