Interesting what Catalano had to say after the race:

"Things went her way and she was good at the right moment when she won the Breeders' Cup," said Catalano. "But I've always thought she was a turf horse and I know now we've got to be strictly grass and that's that."

Wonder how Calabrese feels about that? I'd still love to see her in a dirt route race this Spring, so we'll see where they go from here.

I've never said she wouldn't destory everything on turf. I think she will -- I think she's a better horse on turf.

I've just said that until someone stepped up and showed that they were better than her on dirt in this crop....why pass the money and the prestige?

And yes, at the risk of a GFY, I'd still love to see her take on Grade I company with this 3yo crop around two turns.

I guess I just don't think today did much to discredit her on dirt all things considered.

yeah...I mean, take into consideration the golden rail at GP....hard to get a real solid gauge on the race.

Dreaming of Anna is probably a very nice turf horse with a modicum of dirt ability and she certainly showed it today. You can cut it any way you want to but she has simply never run a particularly good race on the dirt. The fact is that there have been at least a dozen, and probably more, 3YO fillies to run at this Gulfstream meet, in just over a month, that are superior to the likes of Octave and Summer Blossom who finished behind Dreaming of Anna in her gift wrapped BC victory.

If someone wants to lie to themselves and call polytrack dirt, then I guess they can pretend a win in the Ashland is a major dirt win, but her legitimate dirt wins are behind her....assuming she ever really had them.

The good news is the better 3YO fillies are at least starting to show up. That, however, is bad news for Dreaming of Anna and her fans.

I think Catalano has it figured out and his comments show it. She ran a good race in the juvenile fillies and is a champ. No one can take that away from her but all things considered her race today was not very good at all and I expected her to roll. Get back to the turf and fast...

Been begging for her to stay there since she won the the Tippet..

Matt, you think it was that huge of a run? Golden rail....splits weren't that fast...not much behind her. IMO...her least impressive of her wins. Her Summer Stakes at Woodbine was better...IMO.

Not to get all technical on you, but it's Cotton Blossom.
