Not that I didn't once like the man- I was as duped by the press as everyone else. But actually look at his voting record, and pay attention to where and to whom he's been speaking, and one's opinion does a 180. Maverick, schmaverick.

My thoughts on Hilary-- I think she's incredibly smart, and works her tail off for New York-- for a carpetbagger, she knows more about this state than many natives. She's really hawkish on defense, and back in 1992 she was pushing for an overhaul to our bloated health care system-- years before the rest of the country caught up. All to the good. BUT- I think the nation is tired of "Bush" and "Clinton" and even if she was the ideal candidate it wouldn't matter because America wants something different from the past 18 years. I don't think she can win.

I like Edwards, and quite frankly, if Gore would run and show some of the side of him that comes out when he's not campaigning, I think he'd win, because I think the environment and energy are going to be a major, major issues in the near future for most Americans. The situation in Nigeria isn't getting any better, and there goes our 5th largest supplier of oil. And our biggest one requires us to suck up to the same people who are funding mosques teaching that America is the big bad. I think if Gore would throw his hat in, and campaign on energy independence and renewable energies, he'd have a strong shot.

Well, and he'd have to go on a diet. There's a real streak of fattism in this country, for all that many of us are overweight.

oh no. not edwards. he seems so fake!

"God help us" is a prayer...not a talisman! I'm surprised that a man of your education couldn't ferret that out. Oh well...btw...TAKE A MIDOL!

well, yeah imo it was. happens on here too oftne for my taste. put yourself in a womans shoes, tim. posts on here accusing someone of 'acting like a girl'--things like that are used as an insult. because who would want to be a girl...

or maybe i'm just being too sensitive....

The next occupant of the white house will either be Biden or Mayor Rudy. Not saying anything about supporting either candidate, I just think that's going to be the way it plays out.

I gots news for ya, my friend- politicians are ALL power-mad schemers. It's how they get elected. I find it very sexist of you that you clearly consider that a negative thing in a woman but not a man. ;)

she was already prez once....just ask bill..

Hillary is a doer. She personally called up many of the major employers in NY and met with them and asked how she could help them hire additional folks to expand business. What was and was not getting in the way. She did some amazing work with Corning. Talked with Union folks backed them down on certain criteria and basically made it easier to hire qualified folks that would help companies. She did an amazing job.

She is extraordinarily capable. Her health care plan was a plan. And the Republican plan... nowhere. She is the one Democrat with a definite ability to GET THINGS DONE. Now you might not like her ideas, but she has ideas. I also believe she has made many credible aquaintances with quality folks that can get jobs done. ONe thing George did a pitiful job of was picking people for what he thought were minor posts that were completely inept friends or political contributors. FEMA turned out not to be so minor. The list is deep.

I think she will pick good people in all spots. Loyality only goes so far, you have got to move competent people into place.

And I probably will not vote for her. Obama is a definite no. I see a great orator, and smart man... but my God he just has NO experience.

Mean people with experience also can get jobs done. Abraham L. put some of his most ardent enemies into major posts because he knew they were terribly capable at things that he needed them for. I know politics does not work this way anymore, and it is sad. CAPABLE people may be better than people who talk YOUR game, but cannot get things done.

I like Hillary, but all personal likes or dislikes aside I still don't see how anyone can deny the points you've made, that she gets things done and tries to cross the necessary bridges to get there....some people just don't let her over to the other side because party loyalty seems more important these days then getting things done right for the country.

And as for the end of the your post -- I wish it worked that way. I really do. But it's a pipe dream at this point.
