To make sure you're able to find @Horseplayers on @ESQTV next Tuesday, use their Channel Finder: http://tv.esquire.com/channelfinder

It's already in the TiVo database too. I scheduled my Season Pass. :)

Who is the track announcer in this cut? Why reproduce a race call?

New reality show "Horseplayers" debuts tomorrow on Esquire Channel. Watched trailer and guy takes his girlfriend to the paddock before the BC F&M Turf to look at the two horses he's betting -- Zagora and Marketing Mix. They show the two fillies and ID them as they walk by and he likes what he sees. Unfortunately, neither horse is Zagora or Marketing Mix. One is a Coolmore horse and the other a West Point horse. I hope this is not an indication of yet another slipshod racing show filled with errors.
You can see that in this clip below...

IMO, this will be like any other show where long time and experienced horse players will frown at alot of the statements such as Hellmers (when he says 'Especially for the FM Turf because your a female and they are females' or something close to it) and how the horses don't match up.

This is why Luck was so good because it was pretty darn close to reality.

Wow, that clip looks awful...and that doesn't even count the ridiculous "race call"...which of course had to be someone with a foreign accent.

Marketing Mix bears a striking resemblance to Turbulent Descent.

Dear God.:rolleyes: How the fuc1< do you not catch that in a friggin' trailer edit?

I guess we'll have to tune in to find out whether her "female connection" with the female horses was well served. Jeezus this is going to be a mess.

randallscott35 01-21-2014 10:51 AM

Jockeys, the show, used to do the same stuff.

The did a lot of filming during the 2012 Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge and Hellmers was about 3 tables behind Voljack and I. If we get into any of the shots, don't expect to see anything behind us.

You can clearly see the saddlecloth on the horse they say is marketing mix....man what a sham.

No one really handicaps like that right? Maybe its me, that guys at least playing for some serious coin.

Though he's a very nice guy and a very good handicapper...a guy from Erie who is a $10 a race bettor won the richest Harness Racing Handicapping Tournament in 2013 -- the prize was $100,000 and it was held at the Meadowlands. In fact, he actually had to win two contests. A big Internet one to qualify, and than win at The Big M.

Another guy from here won a huge tournament at the Orleans, in Vegas, a few years back.

You just have to travel for these big contests. Once you're in them, whoever gets the hottest wins. I wouldn't be shocked if there are one or two unexceptional handicappers featured.

I mean "that ones got some kidney sweat, she is out", in the paddock 20 minutes before the actual race, with your handicapping tourney in the balance.

I liked the guy that had to bet Groupie Doll because she had won five in a row.

Scav 01-21-2014 09:11 PM

So far, the NY guys are awesome but this Hellmers guy, no mas, "give me kiss" this guy says

art vanderlay 01-21-2014 09:41 PM

We would have been alive other than losing by a whisker.

joeydb 01-21-2014 10:24 PM

I liked the show. Not perfect, but not that bad either.
