Geez i wonder if Riot is okay. Thought she'd have started at least one thread by now.

It's okay to cry. :D

If she's looking for a pie chart or a graph explaining how Obama won that debate, she's going to be gone for quite awhile.

obama looked like he didn't want to be there. disinterested.

he probably was filling out his fantasy picks for sunday.

mitt is just a douche. i hope next time he starts arranging the money in his wallet according to denomination while mr. o is talking about unemployment.

Obama was better at comparing Obamacare to Romneycare than Romey was comparing Romneycare to Obamacare.:zz:

The betting market moved pretty solidly Romney's way.

Obama is still about a 1-to-4 favorite, however.

Here's how much debates matter -- Gov Jan Brewer won re-election in Arizona after this amazing opener:

who won the debate?

A gutterball for Obama.

My zingers:

Before the debate was half over, I swear I heard someone in the crowd going "Tebow, Tebow...!"

DNC was looking for an empty chair to replace Obama with.

Scorecard:

Big Bird A
Romney C+
Lehrer D
Obama F

How many of the 7 Obama votes were cast before the debate? I hope, for their sake, all 7 were. No reason for them to own eyes or ears if not!

sham 10-03-2012 10:59 PM

Romney by 35 lengths in 2:23 flat.

joeydb 10-03-2012 11:24 PM

It was more like a public execution. Romney destroyed him.

pointmanscousin 10-03-2012 11:39 PM

Think of it this way, it really will clear it all for you.....Obama is OJ Simpson. The greater mass of voters are made up of Simpson's jury;and he knows it.

See?

Forgot to mention, once Rita gets out of the decompression chamber....she will remember her parallel is Johnnie Cochran and she'll get all revved up again.

Obama played this like a golfer needing a 9 on a par 3 to win. Hit the ball 50 yds, hit the ball 50 yds, etc. This was the most dangerous debate for him and the one that Romney HAD to "win" so it played out that way. I think he will be much more aggressive in the next two because he's on more solid ground and Romney isn't.

That's the feeling I got. I felt going in that there was no way Obama would win this. It's Ray Allen getting into a three point shooting contest with Dwight Howard. Ray has nothing to lose and anything short of a 10-0 or 9-1 win for him would be considered a failure. Let him win 6-5 or 7-5 and everyone will walk away feeling like Howard won. I don't think Romney said much of anything during the debate but what he did was appear much more aggresive and confident and those are important attributes in a leader. Obama clearly lost this debate tonight in the court of public opinion even if he didn't on the issues. I also think that he played a little "rope-a-dope" with Romney and let him fire a few too many of his bullets early and will use Romney's famous flip-flopping on issues to his advantage next time.

GBBob 10-04-2012 06:00 AM

They should have also just done a WWF and thrown the ref out of the ring because Jim Lehrer was pretty much useless in the squared circle.

If Obama couldnt get it done with all the Openings he had then he isnt going to get it done elsewhere. While Romney was crowing about his 25 years business expierence why did Obama not counter with 25 years of shipping jobs out of the country, firing people, leverging companies up to their eyeballs in debt, paying yourself first, etc. When Romney talked about not funding PBS why did Obama not counter with there you go again, now you are firing Big Bird for a tax cut to reward the 1% while saddling the middle class with higher taxes. I can go on and on. He blew thhe break big time.

yeah, he had numerous chances to blow mitt away, but didn't. and i don't get why.

and i agree with bob, jim lehrer was like a replacement ref and the two players just pretty much ignored him.

slate debate 'awards'

For Best False Praise: The least believable line from Obama all night: “You've done a great job, Jim.”

and on the odds for obama:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slate...tumbling_.html

a 'decisive victory' for romney.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slate...hallenger.html

Part of the problem was that Obama got on the wrong side of what the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza calls the “fine line between sober/serious and grim/uninterested.” He seemed to be taking on the same persona that worked for him in 2008 when he was an untested leader and was eager to prove he was ready for the job. “But now that he has been in the job for four years, Obama’s demeanor came across far less well.” The Chicago Tribune throws Obama what might be the ultimate insult, describing him as “that guy at the meeting who’s surreptitiously checking his email.”

one down, two to go. romney may have won the debate, but will it help him in the real battle?
