i watched NO basketball men or women and i wouldn't watch soccer if they played in my back yard.

You missed some historic hoops. France vs Spain featured some world class flopping which got so out of control a french guy (!) blatently punched the spanish point guard in the nuts and after the game said he hit him because "he wanted to give him a good reason to flop". First French intentional act of agression towards another country since Napoleon.

I guess some people like all the flowery prose and nonsense that the olympic telecasts feed you. They are fixing badmiton matches. The damn ping pong players are professionals. Some amateur boxing matches have been fixed. Virtually every female gymnastic participant appears to be a borderline victim of child abuse.

At least the pros there are playing for free

Olympics are about being the best and representing your country. Of course the pro's, aka the best in the world, should be playing. It would suck if Stern makes that rule.

On another Olympic topic... I saw an event that was ballet but they threw balls in the air and caught them. wtf?? Olympic ball catching? How do you give a nutcracker performance a gold medal?

MMA which I dont even follow would be a great olympic sport if they didnt dumb it down like they do boxing. Could you imagine some 7'5"dude from the hinterlands of Mongolia showing up in the heavyweight division?
