Not so much on NBC HD. The ambient noise was pretty bad so I couldn't hear a darn thing after they swung into the stretch. HD's normally a great way to go for sound, but it was actually too good. I don't need to hear all the 'wooo's on the track mid-race. I want to hear the race call. I'll have to take everybody's word on Larry. I'm sure he did a great job.

That's the same feed here.

That was actually really exciting!

Nehro ran a huge race.

Gotta feel sorry for Robby Albarado...

bigjag0716 05-07-2011 05:57 PM

That was classy for Johnny V to give him props right after the race

I don't. I hope he doesn't beat his wife again. I would go in the witness protection program right now if I were her.

Yep, another year, another stack of torn up losing tickets. Congrats to the connections of Animal Kingdom...lets see, hadn't raced in 6 weeks, had only 4 lifetime starts, only 8 points in DP and, oh yeah, never raced on dirt...an obvious winner...$43.80, seems like should have been twice that. First six finishers all came from 11 post outward. I thought Rosie did her best on Pants on Fire, had him perfectly placed but simply ran out of horse, Dialed In never a factor, big effort from Nehro and Mucho Macho Man. Congrats to everyone who cashed today, you deserve it!

Yeah so happy for Johnny and Graham Motion. What happens with the mount in the future? I assume you'd keep the jockey that just won the Derby for you. Does Robby get the horse back eventually?

ETA: They're doing a Derby post show on Versus right now til 7:30pm EST. Glad I decided to channel surf.

He's run several big races in the span of a short time. AK was much the best, but he ran so well again. I would guess they'd skip the Preakness with him and point for the Belmont.......Nice horse who has come a long way in a short time.

Have you guys looked at Animal Kingdom's pedigree? How that horse lifts a foot on dirt is beyond me. OTOH, great for Graham Motion. What a classy guy, and as I was reminded about 35 times today, one of the very few remaining trainers out there without a drug infraction on his record.

After race quotes:

Nakatani really did an excellent job with the scenario handed to him and was lucky to have a horse that could do it.

103 Beyer. . . Does anyone know if there was a lower Derby Beyer since the numbers have been published?

I'll check now but I think Giacomo and Grindstone were lower off the top of my head.

Didn't Giacomo get a 100?

hockey2315 05-08-2011 10:36 AM

Sadly enough, Giacomo was before my time.
