A judge in Florida on Monday became the second judge to declare President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law unconstitutional, in the biggest legal challenge yet to federal authority to enact the law.

Did you read the whole bill page for page? If the Republicans take over the Senate and Obama gets voted out in 2012 there might be a good chance that this bill that wasn't wanted by the majority of Americans gets repealed.

There is no public option or single payer in the bill. Why do you think the left was so upset at Obama over that? Have you read even the basic summary of it? You'd know that to be true.

The majority of Americans are quite in favor of this at this point (check the polls), and no, doubtful it could ever get repealed, even if a GOP President were to get in during 2012 (as America will not give up the good things in the bill they are already receiving). Yes it could (and probably will) be amended over time. It can certainly be made stronger, better.

Two judges voted it constitutional, two now have not, and 14 have said the case had no merit and refused to hear it. 16 to 2 so far. Implementation of the bill will go forward, and the Supreme Court will get it eventually.

Needs to go to the Supreme Court NOW. Before any more taxes/fees are stolen. I'll guess and say they'll leave it up to State's rights and let the exodus begin. Talk about potentially destroying America?

Perhaps because the country is so diametrically opposed right now regarding healthcare maybe we can separate. Not divorce but a friendly you do your thing I'll do mine and I'll give support for 5-10 or better 100-200 years till everyone gets straightened out. We're a young country after all and can't afford to think ahead.

The Govt. cannot force a citizen to buy a product. The Commerce Clause has been abused for decades. It's time to rein them in. I stated before, if that is unconstitutional, the whole thing goes down in flames. The same 4 Supremes who had difficulty reading the 2nd Amendment will probably have trouble reading the rest of the Constitution.

A good point you have also brought up. The 4 Supremes you are talking about also might be bought and paid for.

Five South Dakota lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require any adult 21 or older to buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”

The bill, which would take effect Jan. 1, 2012, would give people six months to acquire a firearm after turning 21. The provision does not apply to people who are barred from owning a firearm.


Nor does the measure specify what type of firearm. Instead, residents would pick one “suitable to their temperament, physical capacity, and preference.”


The measure is known as an act “to provide for an individual mandate to adult citizens to provide for the self defense of themselves and others.”


Rep. Hal Wick, R-Sioux Falls, is sponsoring the bill and knows it will be killed. But he said he is introducing it to prove a point that the federal health care reform mandate passed last year is unconstitutional.


“Do I or the other cosponsors believe that the State of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not. But at the same time, we do not believe the federal government can order every citizen to buy health insurance,” he said.
