Maybe Pletcher has his eyes set on the Grand National with Discreetly Mine.

1/9 to not make it over the first jump.

Although what McPeek is trying to do is about as laughable as a US Trainer taking a US Steeplechase horse over for the Gold Cup...

DaTruth 04-08-2010 07:05 PM

Why is McPeak talking about this now? Did they run the Arkansas Derby early without anyone knowing about it and Noble's Promise lost?

3 weeks - ran 5th beaten about 5 lengths to Request for Parole in the UN at Monmouth (I checked it up :))

He ran a cracker in the King George then!

Then it was Mullins who ran a sprinter on 3 days rest, some clown did it when over there.

Wes "the legend" Ward with Cannonball at Royal Ascot last year??

>>>"I walked the course at Epsom when Hard Buck came over to England in 2004, and I think this horse will like the course," McPeek said.<<<

Most all of the sprinters do it at Royal Ascot...

That's what I was thinking of.

Don't forget Bridgetown being penciled in for the 2000 Guineas following his huge 2nd in the BC Juvenile Turf last year.

Of course, he might want to opt for the Russian Guineas equivalent instead following his disastrous effort in the Grade 3 Generous a couple of weeks later.

Hasn't been seen since I don't think either. That effort was horrendous.

His Saratoga Special win in the slop was spectacular.

I happened to look at sire stats for Cuvee and noticed that his offspring win 29% on off-tracks from a triple digit sample size. They are 32-for-111 on wet going. Noble's Promise could improve if he gets a wet track based on that.

Cuvee's offspring win 19% of the time sprinting and 12% routing.

Noble's Promise among eight added to Epsom Derby

Kentucky Derby (G1) contender NOBLE'S PROMISE (Cuvee) has been supplemented to the June 5 Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) at Tuesday's second entry stage, it was revealed Thursday. The Ken McPeek trainee, who is scheduled to run in Saturday's Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park, is one of eight added to the Blue Riband at a cost of £8,000 apiece.

That's too bad if it ends up happening. I think he's a pretty nice horse who has shown good versatility surface-wise. There should be a lot of 7f-8.5f stakes races he could contend in this summer. His versatility could especially make him a perfect candidate to enter in turf races with a high probability of coming off the turf, because he has shown ability on multiple main-track surfaces, as well as his impressive turf maiden-breaker.
I agree with the majority that attempting to prep him for a 12f race, and then shipping him over there and trying to win the race would probably ruin what could otherwise be a very useful 3yo campaign.

That run should set up NP for the Arc not doubt about it.

I just wanted to update the scoreboard on Grade I winners produced.

Ghostzapper 1
Mineshaft 0

I know, I know, I just had to give you a hard time and any chance to invoke the ultra inflammatory Stately Victor can't be passed.

I don't know that strictly Grade I winners will be the basis but ok...also that BG was less impressive than some of the Grade 2 winners that Mineshaft already has. Let's wait 5 years and revisit shall we.

As one very smart trainer told me " these Ghostzappers just can't run on dirt. "

So Ghostzapper had foresight into throwing Poly winners. Bravo...In 20 years Poly will be something in history books.

Hey, that could all change soon. His most recent winner was a 3YO in a 20k maiden claimer at Evangeline last Friday night. They completed the six panels in 1:13.74 and the comment was "all out at the finish." He's trained and owned by Minus J. Gisclar II and got a Beyer of 52. He's taking the path to stardom via the bayou.
