1.6 mil for 146, the Empire Maker/Sluice-Seeking the Gold filly...

Yes, Moon only raced twice, but he was brilliant nonetheless. Also, the rest of the family is great as well. It's no big deal- I was disappointed she didn't sell, but in the end it means nothing. |
Mineshaft filly goes for $1.45........yay! I was so nervous about this filly; I'm so glad she sold well. What a great showing for first crop sires Empire Maker, Mineshaft and Sky Mesa..........next year is going to be so much fun, following their offspring.
Can't wait until September when most of the Mineshaft yearlings will be sold....... |

They put that filly on the market because they thought she was one of Mineshaft's best yearlings and they wanted to generate some buzz for his September yearlings .......I doubt her price is only due to the family. I don't think anyone is going to spend big bucks on yearlings that don't look the part

I was just suggesting that this particular filly was not the absolute best physical specimen at that sale, and if her sale was legit, it had as much to do with getting a filly from that family as anything else. |

171, this filly is 3x3 to Seattle Slew. the catalogue does not show she is 3x4 to reines de course Lassie Dear. she is 3x4 to Mr Prospector, 4x5 to Buckpasser. she has a 4x4 Secretariat/Sir Gaylord cross. she has 10 lines of La Troienne she has 3 Somethingroyals she could very well be the best bred horse in the sale while running the risk of being overbred. her coefficient of inbreeding is 7.29%. anything over 5% needs closer review. which i'm sure the buyers did. |

[quote=cloud_break]Actually, horses are registered as "sold" for big prices that don't actually change hands - all the time. It is not uncommon for the owners of a first year stallion to run a weanling or yearling through the ring - have a friend sign the ticket - while never actually parting with the horse.

Real Quiet and Quiet American would not work ...you really have to hypo the two...i've created a temporary name for 171 on pedigreequery.com , "Mineub" for hypo purposes...for fun.
|
Before I even look I know its too much Mr. P.
|
yeah, ya really gotta dodge any Seattle Slew and Mr Prospector lines in a potential sire.
|
Im not a paying member on that site so I cant look at the hypo, but I knew right away it was too much Mr. P. Although, Quiet American is the first horse that pops in my head when I think of intensely inbred stallions of note.
You know who I love? Seattle Fitz. He should go amazingly well with Mr. P line mares. I think he's a huge bargain for small breeders in KY. Gorgeous animal as well. |
wow, hypoing some ky stallions Wild Zone is close, Vicar, but the search continues...it ain't easy finding a stallion devoid of Mr Prospector Seattle Slew, Secretariat, AND closely inbred to another...Siphon would work.
there are a lot of good stallions out there including Seattle Fitz but you don't see them in the select sales for commercial reasons...i'm looking forward to the preferred sessions coming up at Saratoga and the open session to. |
