No decision yet on Peppers Pride
By Mary Rampellini

Peppers Pride has not yet been officially retired, but all signs were pointing in that direction as of Tuesday.

"We're still not positive, or 100 percent, but we're leaning that way," said Joel Marr, who trains Peppers Pride for her breeder, Joe Allen.

Peppers Pride is undefeated in 19 starts and owns the longest win streak in modern North American history. She had been expected to retire following the $125,000 New Mexico Racing Commission Handicap at Sunland Park on Dec. 14, but she won in such a convincing fashion that she forced her connections to rethink plans. As of Tuesday, however, a broodmare career seemed to be at hand.

Marr said Allen is continuing to look at stallion prospects for Peppers Pride, although no stud deal has been made.

Peppers Pride is a 6-year-old New Mexico-bred by the Fappiano stallion Desert God.

Thank you very much for the Santa Anita calendar! Mine made it to the Bay Area this morning.

MUCH nicer than I anticipated. Very high quality, and beautiful photos.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see 2008 Breeders Cup photos included, too.

(I haven't reviewed the included handicapping tips yet! :) )

Seriously, it is a VERY nice piece to display. My wife was very impressed.

Thanks!

And, Happy New Year!

I got a lawn jockey :D

Does the lawn jockey carry the DeeTee colors?

Hey Steve, maybe DeeTee lawn jockeys can make it to the "store" for next year?

My lawn jockey has the silks of my trainer, Steve Sherman. I don't have my own silks yet, maybe some day!

Diver67 01-02-2009 05:57 PM

I got a Secretariat blue T-shirt. Head shot on the front, on the back lists his Triple Crown race times (showing each as "new track record," ;) ) and then underneath the times, "Secretariat. . . timeless."
