I hate ESPN!

How can "the worldwide leader" be the home of the Breeders' Cup and not televise a single f'n race on Saturday?!?! They shut down the network for the closing of Yankee Stadium and consistently put on the WNBA, yet, they can't find space for Curlin going for the earnings record or one of the other 13+ graded races on TV!

The NTRA hosted a big "Marketing Summit" this past weekend while what they should have been doing was actually MARKETING the d@mn sport!

There will be more G1's this coming weekend than on BC weekend and not a single national broadcast will attend. In addition to NY and Cali, Turfway and even Hawthorne have significant racing and unless one uses one of the satellite TV services you are SOL on racing on TV this weekend.

Capital OTB will show every one of those stakes. The Belmont races will be live and those that are run during the Belmont card will be aired as soon as possible after their completion. Once the Belmont card is over, it will be all live as much a s possible.

As for the quality of what Capital OTB does, when you consider what we do and under what circumstances and with how few people you would be amazed. (When ESPN arrived for the Travers, they brought about 70 people, 5or 6 production trucks, and mountains of equipment. We did over 100 shows from Saratoga with one engineer, two cameras and one small trailer.)

Obviously we do more business by showing the races so we will show as many as we can. The point is that even "fans" who are not really bettors can still view all of our races, no strings attached.

We are required by law to show NYRA live and any additional simulcasts on a replay basis around the NY feed. In addition to the races from Belmont we are expected to also show the paddock report and post parade and any "will pays" leaving us with scant little time to devote to non NY racing.

I realize that we don't have to worry about squeezing racing in around cooking or football but the original post was to remind at least those people in the Capital viewing area that we will in fact be showing these events.

As for "personalities" what can I say? We all have preferences. I do get out to branches and was at the track and or a branch for almost every race run at Saratoga. I do hear it all. Not everyone is going to like every personality. Sometimes it's a disagreement with a handicapping style, sometimes is just the voice or demeanor that a viewer doesn't like.
I've had people walk up to me and say "I HATE MR. X!! He's this and that and he's terrible, get him off the air!" Five minutes later I hear "Mr X is great! You need 3 more just like him!"

Wow, did not expect all the chatter since I was just letting y'all know that Capital TV will have it all. Thanks Linny & thanks Hoff for the support

That's like the Food network telling everyone about how they will be showing cooking shows this weekend. What else would they show?

My issue with the quality is more of a on air personality thing. I think you do a great job. But I wish I could say the same thing about some of your colleagues. Maybe I'm way off, but if you talk to enough people around the track or OTB, I'm sure you would get a similar response. I know i hear plenty of complaints.

Hoss, the "idiots" (I say that lovingly and with much suppot) are on TV in the morning. If you don't like them then hit the mute button and have another beer and watch the "View".
At this time, we show racing in the afternoon without interruption or in between race "stuff". If you want to see how we get it done then I personnally invite you to come to our operational facility and l'll give you a personal, up front, driver's seat tour. Let me know. We won't even cook meatloaf that day just for you. Get in touch with me. Love to have you but, you'll have to take the mask off.

I can even deal with Mark and Mike. They aren't the problem, they at least have a clue as to what is going on.

Now, I'm not sure if the rest is an attempt at humor, but if it is, please don't quit your day job. I just think that having idiots like you have on during the day is an insult to the people betting from home. I have no complaints with the way the graphics are displayed or anything like that. It is what it is. I just happen to think the overall product would be improved by having people that are knowledgable of the game on air. I guess suggestions weren't really welcomed like the oldest person in America that still follows wrestling said. And as exciting as the prospects of a tour of the OTB facilities in beautiful Schenectady are, I'm going to have to decline. I'm too afraid to take my mask off.

You REALLY gotta come up with new material.....you don't bring any ideas to the table and sound like a "broken" record. No need for personal attacks either, JAY  hopefully....no offense taken.
