Tom..

You don't mean LITF, do you?? It looked to me that Kelly's Landing was staggering. LITF came out to meet him a bit, which isn't unusual, but I thought he was straight as can be down inside the last eighth..

Kasept 06-03-2006 05:15 PM

BTW.. Did anyone here see the 3rd race at Epsom this morning? Dettori on a horse through the eye of a needle in the final 75 yards... It was quite something... Have to look up the specifics...

Scav 06-03-2006 05:15 PM

Maybe I am blind...To me, he looked like he drifted out about a path and then ducked to the rail three paths....I am hoping to see the head on because if he was diong that, I am playing against him next out, if not then I am full bore the rest of the year....

Togacapper 06-03-2006 05:23 PM

LTF was a little drunk off the turn and through mid stretch. But the last 1/8 looked good. I think 7 made it look worse than it was though, Just my opinion.

pgardn 06-03-2006 06:17 PM

He got out of the gate like a bullet. A good sign.
He was relaxed while not in the lead. A good sign.

He did not leave Kelly's Landing, but he punched his ticket.
I am very happy to see him back.

westcoastinvader 06-03-2006 06:23 PM

looked straight to me....

I watched the "head ons" real time at the OTB, so I haven't studied. My real time view was that Fog was running exactly where Russell Baze wanted him to in the stretch.

Thanks for those who pointed out Kelly's Landing, and even thanks to those who pointed out Prado. LITF went off at .50, and my plan going in was to only go with him to win at .80 or more.

When I saw the 5-7 and 5-6 exactas had respectable prospective payouts, I took about a quarter of what I had planned to possibly play on Fog to win, and bought two straight exactas.

I sure was pulling for Prado! The 5-6 exacta would have paid about $28.

But, the Kelly's Landing chalk exacta at $9.20 gave me a bigger winning margin that I would have had with the original amount planned for Fog.

I'll also note that I think Russell benefited with his ride of Victorina in the prior race at Churchill. I didn't like his choices with her, but I think he learned a bit about where he wanted Fog on the track in the 10th.

Only if the needle was 20 yards off the rail, right.;)

Lost in the Fog recieved an 111 beyer. Calracing.com put up the head on replay, it shows Fog did not move more than a bit each way. It was an optical illusion as KL did drift out three lenths.

westcoastinvader 06-04-2006 02:34 PM

Thanks for the calracing.com reminder

Thanks for the note of calracing.com. I previously thought only the California track replays were available. I dug a little deeper and realized I could search on "horse," type in "Lost In The Fog," and see the Churchill Downs race.

If anyone has not tried, it's free.

Unfortunately it's not real cooperative with Mozilla Firefox, so I reluctantly had to boot up Internet Explorer. Now I have to cleanse the PC.......

BTW, Fog did seem to waver a bit more at the top of the stretch than I initially thought.

It looks as if the old boy LITF has come back into form. He looked great in winning that race! They sure are going to pound this horse with the weight now though. This is a horse that I just cannot help but root for.

Is he headed there? If so, I am going to go.

I hope so. This is from DRF....
Gilchrist said Lost in the Fog would return to Golden Gate to regroup before his probable next start, the $500,000 Smile Sprint Handicap on the July 15 Summit of Speed program at Calder.

Did you make it up to Ocala when he was on his "R & R" there?

I was only in Ocala for a weekend. Going up for a longer weekend next month. My mom is moving back to FL. Don't think I will have time to sight see much.

I see. It's pretty cool. If you ever want to go and visit a farm, just call ahead of time and they'll give you a tour. At least New Episode (Funny Cide) and Cruppy's New Castle (Affirmed) did. Also I forget the name of LITF was but they did too.
THey brought him out for us for a little "meet and greet". (See my picture on the "this is me thread"). Everyone was very nice.
