From my interpretation of Jesus - he seemed the type who'd probably love nothing more than to be F---ed.

100% correct. Apparently ND has never seen a roast.

Drugs you know there are stories about he and MM that would lay creedance to this....

On the subject of Dana I am shocked nobody has a link to the monologue off a bad camera phone or it's equivalent. At the risk of being called sexist I place this behavior at the M and M roast in the same category of former teacher Deb L from Fla who apparently has a thing for intimacy with very young boys....her lawyer got her off because "We can't send a young woman like that to maximum security prison it is inhumane"....so she did no time and society buys it while a guy guilty of those actions gets a roommate in a small room .

If a guy did what Dana did who was a male ESPN counterpart he would be looking for the Harold Reynolds version of "How do I get a job after I've done something stupid" Dana went over the PC line by miles and suffered no consequences roast blue or not.....

Yes, I have seen many celebrity roasts.

I have the entire Dean Martin set.

Don't know how I got them. Probably some Christmas re-gift.

To compare what somebody (really a nobody) said at a charity roast versus a teacher who had realtions with a student or young boys (not really familar with the case, but it doesn't matter) is ridiculous.
As far as the male, female debate. I do not think it matters in this case. I am guessing that the majority of people haven't even heard about what happened at the roast or don't care (because it was a roast and a nobody said it). The reason that these things usually spin out of control is because you have someone who thinks that they are the defender of the discrimminated and that person tries to fan the flames. Imus would be a perfect example. Guy said a stupid thing and you saw the treatment that followed.

I'm also not sure where you got your info on the Lafave trial, but the defense does not dictate terms in a trial. The prosecution was adament in Lafave doing prison time, but changed it's stance in the plea agreement, because the boy's mother did not want her son testifying in the case. That is why she didn't go to prison.

I ask again, is there anyone here besides Bigs and myself who has ever seen a roast? Apparently not. That's what happens at roasts. People tell jokes, some over the line and it's all in good fun. Anyone ever see the old Dean Martin roasts? I guarantee you can't get through one of those without finding tons of offensive stuff. But people realize it was all in good fun. Me thinks people would be better off worrying about serious issues in the world right now and not what Dana Jacobson said, at A ROAST of her friends. Anyone know if Mike and Mike were as offended by some here? I'll go out on a limb and say probably not.

i have seen one, don't remember who it was. just a couple years ago. florence henderson was there (the mom on the brady's) and one of the guys roasting the guest said he wanted to f--- her. that he'd always had a crush on her, and it would fulfill a lifetime dream if they could do it..
yeah, they are absolutely raunch. i think they're supposed to be.

as for jesus, he palled around with some unsavory characters. i doubt he never heard someone tell him to gfy--or the long ago equivalent.

Maybe my take on the board is different or out and out wrong.....but I use the board for different reasons different times......information,discussion,laughs,venting and quite frankly BS. I am neither qualified or educated enough to debate the Roberts Rules of the judicial system, my point about D and D was not to lump them together as having sinned equally or debate the specifics of why either did what they did and how others responded in the judicial system or employer, it was an observation that the playing field is not always even in judgement of behavior or evaluating choices made that in other arenas would provoke serious consequences.....

If somehow my previous post left you believing I was anymore authoritative or judgemental it was not my intention.

Simply put ...some people catch more breaks than others for a myriad of reasons and I'll just leave it there!!!

Now give me 3 horses your sure will win the 5th at SA today and I'll be eternally grateful to you....

That is what the problem is! For example my wife was reading the NY Daily news this morning and buried halfway in the paper was a story of a Jewish kid that was beat up by 5 black kids. They used the words Jew while beating him up and he ended going to the hospital needing some stitches. Now if it was the other way around, let's just say that the Giants would not have made the front page. Like you said "The playing field is not even!"

By the way I could use some winners at Santa Anita too.

I am not offended or hurt by her remarks, but I do think she crossed the line and should be punished like almost anyone else would for comments like this. Mike and Mike were VERY VERY embarrassed by her comments, and I bet Golic was offended by it, along with Charlie Weis sitting close by.

"F Notre Dame" is one thing, "F Jesus" is where the line has been crossed. If you don't understand this or can't see how that comment is offensive to some Catholics or Christians Hoss, it is obvious you just like to argue against me.

Danzig 01-21-2008 10:10 AM

she should be punished because YOU don't like her remarks?? that's ridiculous.

what happened to free speech? what happened to ' i may not agree with you, but i agree with your right to say it?' what about when you say something 'offensive' irish? or is that different??
get off your high horse. if you don't like something, don't engage in that behavior. but gimme a break about pushing your ideals on someone else.

cmorioles 01-21-2008 10:22 AM

She was stupid. She should have said fuc:< Ohio State...then she gets a raise.

It was a roast, the point of a roast is to be offensive. I'd love to see proof of how "VERY VERY" embarassed Mike and Mike were. And frankly, who cares if Charlie Weis was offended. Who gives a shiat what he thinks.

Exactly! Sounds like she was drunk and probably heard F bombs all night for the other comedians. She was tring to be funny and it jst didn't work. Let it go. Offensive is when Sinead O'Connor ripped up the picture of the Pope on SNL. Still, it wasn't like she burned down a church, but she was making a statement on a public platform and she got her message across. But still it is a free country, that was the way she chose to express herself (although I do not think that NBC was too happy). That was a direct shot at the Catholic
church and I could understand why people got upset at that. But in this case it is just a nobody that was trying to be funny.

Then why did Don Imus get fired??????

Why did Jimmy the Greek get hounded about his comments?????

I agree with free speech, but how can you punish someone for offensive comments, and then let the next go when it's against a different group of people????

I understand the whole roast thing, I watched a lot of it actually and the f bomb was being dropped, Charlie was reffered to as the "3-8 coach", and everything was funny. "F Notre Dame" is funny, the other was a very poor attempt at being funny, and that is my point.

I started an interesting topic on here, as obvious by the amount of views and replies, isn't that what a message board is about?

Well, for one thing, I don't thnk Jesus really has any standing upon which to sue.

For another, most would agree with the F**k Notre Dame part.
