To be fair though, without that huge exacta i would probably be close to last. You don't realise that you are still losing on most races when you pick a winner, because of the ew bet and reverse forecast.

I got lucky with the exacta. I had backed Full House in the race last year when he was fourth, and i'm not sure if you heard the interview Michael Bell gave ATR the other week, but he was really keen on Juniper Girl if there was rain. There wasn't but i was going on the weather forecast. So there was a bit of luck with that i suppose. I picked out the first four in that race with my alternates as well, didn't i?

brockguy 06-22-2007 03:57 PM

With one day left, NoChance is a distance clear and easing up approaching the line.. This contest is reminiscint of a Limestone Lad race. He's go miles clear at the start and the others simply wouldnt be able to catch him.. Anyway, good luck all tomorrow..

I keep losing hand over fist each day at the moment. Really glad Mahler won today, i was over the moon about him, not least because i had backed him also.

Will wait and see what the ground is like tomorrow before posting selections, but at the moment i'm all over Amadeus Wolf in the Golden Jubilee

Final tally of results.. Extremely well done to NoChance who had this contest after a well deserved exacta paying $286 to $1.. Fair Play.. It was a war of attrition after that with many (me being the perfect example) struggling to find winners. I cam out down over the week but am ruing what might be with big bets on Ea and Ramona Chase being somewhat unfortunate.. Anyway enough of my rambles,

1. NoChanceToDance +1427.07 (-135)
2. Titan Sooner +109.48 (0)
3. Bigsmc +4.38 (0)
4. ArlJim -55 (0)
5. my miss storm cat -114.01 (-136.7)* Just lost profit on last day.
6. Seattle -159.16 (-112.56)* Though he may be worthy of a 500 deduction for copying and pasting another contestants picks in round one. ;-)
7. Ed -497.15 (-68.75)
8. Snowdrops -497.60 (0)
9. Brockguy -562.88 (-172.66) *Stud career on hold about disappointing performance.

Anyway well done to all those who played and who enjoyed the great week of Royal Ascot..

NoChanceToDance 06-24-2007 07:21 AM

Thanks again for setting this up.

That exacta apart i had a pretty awful week with my selections, although with my actual bets i think i made a small profit over the week. Tariq was a nice return for me when i had backed him at 11/1.

When the rain came on Friday it was always going to be difficult to find winners, especially when some of the times were still suggesting it was fast ground, and when Maraahel won it can't have been too soft, but it obviously was. A great weeks racing, though. Highlight for me was Manduro, a class horse who is still improving.

Silkwood was very impressive and surely a group one win awaits for her soon enough. She hasn't had much racing and will improve again from her Ribblesdale win.

If only i had some proper cash on that exacta i had....... we live and learn.

Love Full House though, have followed him so many times.

Was a great contest to play in....... losing $30 dollars a race seemed to be the cause of the last couple of days, and it all adds up.

my miss storm cat 06-24-2007 07:58 PM

Congrats No Chance and thanks Brock for running the contest..... it was great fun. :)
