What will English Channel's Beyer Be?

I'll go with 104.

Come to think of it, Lure may have been close.

For me....

American based Dirt: Ghostzapper and Discreet Cat (who will prove what he needs to this year)

American based Turf: Lure and Kotashann

I think Discreet Cat is the next horse that could do it, if he has a chance to show it. But he is like Ghostzapper in that he seems to be fragile or at least handled like that. I'd like to see an actual campaign this year, not 3 races.

I'm not a big fan of Turf figures......

I don't even bother projecting them or fooling around with them.

what about them dont you like?

blackthroatedwind 02-22-2007 10:53 PM

It's hard for English Channel's fig to be very good when you consider who ran second and third and what they are capable of.

Turf figs are irrelevent anyway.

And, by the way DrugS, Kotashan? What were you excited by his thrilling duels with Bien Bien?

They are meaningless as turf final times are completly a function of pace.

meaningless just in Beyer #'s or in sheet #'s also?

randallscott35 02-22-2007 10:57 PM

Personally, I do like the Thoros numbers for turf races. I find the patterns much more predictable, but of course on turf, the trip is so important.

Ghostzapper's 2005 Met Mile

It's a shame he didn't get to finish the year.

I was actually.

I thought the final 8 races of his career were all spectacular. I guess they all came in a 10 month window, and he wasn't all that much before that, so I can see how he misses your cut.

...... That and he's never won anything better than a French Group 3 outside of So Cal.

I've seen many Euro based one's who I'd rate above him since, Daylami especially....but, Kotashaan was a fairly deserving Horse of the Year in '93, on the basis of the final 8 races of his career.

If he did that he might have to show how Cacique was ridden into a wall and would've collared his boy had he gotten out in time. Able to turn the tables in the Manhattan, however.
