I like what Reed Baker said. If you had a horse that had won 10 million on the dirt and you entered him in the Breeders Cup Turf, most people would think you are out of your mind. Thats essentially what all of these people shipping into California are doing. You take a shot because the money is so good, but it will be a day of upside down results. Once again the industry has made themselves look foolish, they cannot control themselves. Especially in California

I will standback and watch a day of false champions run on fake dirt. Its a true disgrace and I hope the Euros Sweep the Cushion Card, and I dont doubt they do exactly that

I will not make one wager

I hope that the Euro's sweep the card as well. But that doesn't have any impact on the quality of the Champion. The Duke, HTN and RP in the Classic are all proven G1 winners against higher class and better quality stock then the US has to offer. How would they be considered a false champion.

Synthetic over slop any day. Much fairer to the horses

jwkniska 10-22-2008 11:59 AM

synthetic. sloppy main tracks account for about 90% of my worst handicapping days ever (and state bred stakes days account for about 9% of the rest).

I'm looking forward to this BC about fifty times more than I looked forward to last year's,

Will take synthetic over soup any day of the week.

me too. most turfers seem to relish only a certain kind of ground, so if they like it hard and firm, and it comes up soft, you can start narrowing down the field with confidence.
as for betting on poly with confidence....not so much.

but don't they water the courses? i seem to remember reading that one group was ticked off because they felt that the course got watered too much, which benefitted the o'brien entry....
and yeah, they don't like it firm over there, which was my point that most over there like it deep-and send their firm loving horses here to find ground to suit them.

I think the two best singles on the Friday card are in the juvy races:
Stardom Bound in the juvy fillies, and Laragh in the juvy fillies turf.

Of horses that will probably take some money, I think Intangaroo is a toss in the Filly and Mare Sprint. She appears to be much better on the dirt than synthetics, and if the race sets up well for her in terms of pace, it will also set up well for Ventura, who I like a lot more.
