No fairytale ending for Mine David Carr THERE was no fairytale ending for Mine, who never looked like capturing a fourth victory in the Ladbrokes Bunbury Cup. Mike Dawson's ten-year-old, who took the historic 7f handicap in 2002, 2005 and 2006, could not land a blow on his last race before retirement and was eased late by Frankie Dettori, eventually coming home 17th of 18 behind Little White Lie. “He was a bit slow out, I had a look at the two but I couldn't bridge the gap and I just let him come home on his own terms,” the jockey said. “He has done everybody proud his whole life.” Mine won ten of his 66 races and earned £355,000 in career prize-money. |

NY fans will be happy to hear the "Affair in the Air" who is now 9 or 10 is at CANTER Ohio and they are trying to place him. A woman from a horseback riding/horseshow board, in considering buying him.
Affair was a longtime mainstay in the NYRA tracks. |

Cabinet racecourse career over Racing Post staff CABINET has had to have his racecourse career curtailed after suffering from a heart problem. The Grand Lodge colt had done extremely well over the winter and was expected to make up into a Listed and Group race performer this season but his only slice of action in his four-year-old campaign waswhen landing a gamble when beating Eradicate a neck at Nottingham in April. Owned by the Royal Ascot Racing Club, Cabinet won three of his eight starts and picked up over £45,000 in prize money. Alex Smith, spokesman for the owners, said: “It's very sad but Cabinet has been retired after he was found to have a heart valve problem. He's just being reassessed but it's a condition that won't go away and we are looking for a good home for him.” |
