Uncle MO....everyone was on the bus and got off...I will stay on.

God, I hope the posts on this thread are representative of the odds on Derby day. That would be a treat.

After extensive and exhausting study in trying to determine the worst horse in this year's field I came up with Watch Me Go. That should put him over the top.

the ironic part is that besides MUcho, Kathy Ritvo has 47 starts and 1 win. I am sure she is capable and this may be just an oddity, but has any derby winning trainer ever come in with a similar record?

I don't think Spend A Bucks trainer was all that hot coming into KY.
|
actually woolley and gambolati were both around 10% trainers the years they won the derby
|
Perhaps I'm crazy, but Animal Kingdom will be in the trifecta at least.

Dear other newer people / people who don't post much or mainly just lurk around... If you never post please consider this your official welcome and join our sick and crazy family. C'mon please... post your Derby horse. You might be right and then we'll all be in awe of you (for about 2 seconds but still)... :p  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBXyB7niEc0 |

Ok, you talked me into revealing who I like. I'm going with Uncle Mo, but only because I so adore all of the offspring of my favorite horsey, Indian Charlie! |
Let me reach into the hat and....it's Shackleford.

For me, everything is pointing toward Soldat as the horse to beat, and looking at 15-1 or so:$:
I see some Shacklefords among us, and quite a few Midnight Interludes I won on The 'Lude in the S.A. Derby, and fear him the most ('cause it would hurt so bad to have dropped him), but many of the experts on DRF, Bloodhorse, Brisnet and others suggest he's a big bet against. |

If there had been a messege board in 1973, I could only imagine what would have been said about Secretariat after the Wood. Of course, he did have a brilliant Gotham to fall back on as a 3yo while Uncle Mo has nothing.
I've been waiting and waiting for another horse to step up and take over the lead in this pathetic class but none have and so by default, I still go with Uncle Mo. To me, he was so far ahead of the pack going into the last that it's going to take more than the Wood to make me get off of him now. So it's with resignation that I chose Uncle Mo. |

Shackelford worked 58.8 Bullet best of 36... He has passed Uncle Mo on my list.

Dear new people who are still lurking around and wondering if they should or shouldn't... This is my final effort. Post now and you will forever be on my good side (or at least for the rest of the day). Delay and when Andy decides to rip you apart for the pure entertainment value of it all you're on your own. :D (Kiding, Andy). :{>: |
I am definately one of those lurkers. I enjoy reading the opinions and interpretations of most of the regulars here; they can be a little intimidating though. My pick is still Uncle Mo. I just wish he had a little more racing under his belt.
