Soldier's Dancer should be the fav/ winner but I thought Flying Spur was the logical choice in the 7th.

Pickapocket is too short to get excited about this race

Wolfson's stuff working real real good today, amazing how it doesn't work in California

There was absolutely no speed in that race. Michelle Nihei coulda trained that horse to victory.

I was just going to say, that was the definition of Lone Speed. Nice ride by Leproux.

I dont disagree, but still, these horses just are not stopping, the two that they won, they won easy, and going fairly quick, while essentially under wraps.

And, for the record, he isn't the only one. Calabrese horses have been doing the same exact thing down there.

speed has been good on turf there the last two days. and i thought both of wolfsons turf winners today were helped out by no other speed and slow fractions

Million times and it will continue, that is why horses like his in the 7th goes from 4/1 to 2/1 co-choice in 2 clicks with 300k in the pool already.

im not defending wolfson, but this isn't him improving off mott. the horse was alone through slow fractions, as coach pants said, trainer didnt matter here.

freddymo 01-30-2010 05:30 PM

Thrilled for my African American brother.. Don't you think this horse has issues that made his last connections believe he wouldnt be suitable for this race when they dumped him in a 50k claimer.. Lo and BEhold ole Wolfson grabs him and weeks later has him running OFF the screen!!

im sure he has some issues, hes 7. but hes run in optional claimers for the tag before. there were no takers.

im saying if you look at the race, there was no speed. the horse went slow on a track that has been very fast. he probably did improve, but wouldn't you expect him to improve off of donna green?

cannonman 01-30-2010 05:57 PM

Logic is a wonderful commodity to have in your pocket Gaining Ground.

Hi Morty!

Pretty cool with Bold Chieftan and Palladio in the Classic... Palladio goes over a million with that effort. What a great and interesting career he's had. I first took note of him when he won the Ohio Derby and have always enjoyed his gameness. And like Palladio, Chieftan always runs his race. Frequently not good enough in graded events, but just good enough today. Horses like these two running 1-2 for rreal money is why this silly SunMill concept works too.

It was really cool, especially hearing Chieftan's trainer afterwards. What a brave and classy old horse in Bold Chieftan.

OK whatever... Wolfson is a brilliant trainer who just clained one for 50 and won 180 with a 7 year old lose on the lead who earned a career top.. Respectfully he cheated period

Oh please, freddy. That was a welfare race and you know it. That field sucked mad d.icks, yo.

Coach Pants 01-30-2010 07:02 PM

Congrats, Steve. Bejaranose gave you back to back solid rides.

I just hate synthetic racing though. That 10 wide s.hit is for the birds.

cannonman 01-30-2010 07:03 PM

Top shelf trainer, spends big bucks on a horse, wins a race with that horse. Frontrunner catches a paceless bunch on a very big course, cruises as the second choice behind a no chance favorite and a few, of the natives claim cheating.

"More wine my dear" and I'll have the pari-mutuel salad!

atolunch 01-30-2010 07:10 PM

Great job today Steve!

Thanks as always for your tireless efforts and inputs!!:tro:

he didn't earn a career top. at least not beyer wise. not that beyers mean much on turf anyway, but the figure for the race today is a 98.

take a look at the field. it was a grade 3 race at best. hes a grade 3 animal. if the horse wins the bc mile, you might have a point. but loose on the lead wins by quality horses doesnt mean cheating. period.

MaTH716 01-30-2010 08:12 PM

Very impressive day Steve. You were all over it. Looks like you are back in the groove.

Bogey 01-30-2010 08:55 PM

Congrats Steve on a great day of handicapping.

Matt, Gus, A/R,

Thanks! Glad I missed the first leg of the P6 rather than the last...
