Actually I was wrong about Dave writing the article. It was Steve Anderson.

Bobby Frankel Get Well Soon
For those interested and listed as a member of facebook. There is a group you can join if you want to leave a "get well" message. The group can be found at "Bobby Frankel Get Well Soon!"
|
If that doesn't kill Bobby then nothing will.
|
Frankel's illness is not to be mentioned on this website.

At least now everyone can see exactly why Frankel wanted the illness kept quiet.
|
well then you can lock this thread ,try your hand at locking facebook and rip Santa Anita Park who started the thread a new one on your show while you're at it.

Did Frankel tell you personally? Apparently the heads of Santa Anita Park didnt find anything wrong with showing support. There is a difference between that and openly talking about his actual illness
|
Does he read those Facebook messages?

Oh Vey! exactly it's a gesture not a topic of his illness. |
Here's a thought... If anyone here wants to personally reach Frankel with an expression of concern and wish for his health, you can send it to me and I will see that he gets it.

I volunteered to interview him for an 8 pager my friend ran in New York about 10 years ago. He gave me exactly 10 minutes (which is 10 minutes longer than I thought I'd get). I figured I'd try and warm him up by talking about Brooklyn and the old neighborhood. We talked about that for almost a half hour and I never got my interview! Guess that communications degree was a waste. |

One more Bobby Frankel story... I was standing with Sean Clancy waiting for Barbaro to train at Keeneland before coming down to Louisiana Downs. Frankel was next to us talking basically hanging-out, talking about racing etc.
Anyway, a horse came down the walkway with his blue saddle cloth and he said, "Someone asked me if I thought this horse was the next Ghostzapper." He then chuckled a bit and said, "There aren't very many Ghostzappers." I was never able to figure out who he was talking about, which is a shame, but a nifty story none-the-less. |
I was hanging out with Frankel one day when I was a lot younger ....
and he looks at me and goes .. "I'm not sure if you're the world's best handicapper yet ... but you damn sure are the sexiest!" I had a The Fat Man moment and was all like ... "Bobby, you're soooooo a master of the obvious!" |

being chronically ill is no fun. my condition makes me sick all the time. i thank God that its not a life threatning condition such as cancer or nameless other things we mortal humans contract. but heres what i know about being sick and being around sick people. because once you're diagnosed you are constantly at offices being tested and prodded, you get sick of being sick. you talk to the other sick people and they feel the same way. it does not matter what you have, we are mortal, we all age, eventually we all become ill. thats life. people don't need to know what you have. as long as you are alive and breathing, you are still the same person. thats what people forget. the person does not want to change, they became ill. in most cases they don't want pity or special notice, they want to carry on like nothings wrong . its very personal in some cases and people should not speculate. this is where being famous is not all its cracked up to be. my problem is faceless and no one cares but friends and family, someone like bobby frankel has to deal with it publicly. that just adds to the stress of being ill. sure people appreciate the well wishes and such. but dounuts to dollars he would be just as happy with a "good luck" and "hope your horse runs well in the feature today"(like nothings wrong). the worst thing about being ill is being reminded of it constantly, thats why people keep it to themselves.
