Well, I was already tossing Tiago and Casino Drive.. I have no problem tossing GB too.

I can understand tossing Tiago and Casino Drive, but why Go Between.
Casino Drive is an easy toss, Tiago more difficult but you have to draw the line. Go Between seems pretty logical to me.

I'm kidding.. just playing along...

CSC 10-21-2008 10:44 AM

Any shot Curlin goes off at 5/2 in the Classic with the pro ride question mark? If so I think given this field that would be a price that is interesting.

cakes44 10-21-2008 10:54 AM

No chance. However, you might be able to get something like 6/5 on him if you like him that much. Once all that Japanese $$ on Casino Drive gets into the pools ala Deep Impact in the Arc, I'm guessing most people should be satisfied with the prices they get on the animal they like...unless it's Casino Drive.

King Glorious 10-21-2008 03:37 PM

Curlin is 7/5 ml
Raven's Pass is 6/1 second choice.
Go Between 8/1
Duke, Henry, Casino all at 10/1
Colonel John 20/1
Fairbanks 10/1
Champs and Tiago 15/1
Student Council 20/1
Smooth Air 50/1

What a horrible race.

NTamm1215 10-21-2008 05:07 PM

This is vindication for Brad Thomas, who received a great deal of criticism last year when he made the lines as the races were drawn. He did an outstanding job compared to this year.

Finally got to see Thomas without those HUGE shades and, as it turns out, I remember him from the '80's at BEL/AQU. Would see him with his 'partner' taking notes in front of some monitor during the running of the races, always engaged in discussion about the trips. They both would have a couple of bags with stacks of paper (their NOTES, I suppose).

Vindication for BT, IMO, would be ACTUALLY WINNING AT THE RACES, i.e. SHOWING A CONSISTENT PROFIT, rather than basically wasting his time doing color/morning lines for MTH/MED. What's next for him: posting on DT or PA?

One person doing a horrible job doesn't vindicate another person that did a horrible job. It just means that two people have done horrible jobs.

Post of the year material above....perhaps a DT Eclipse is in his future.

EDGAR PRADO has to be added here as do any number of other Hall of Fame jocks who are obvious "frauds".

Weird, because Henrythenavigator has been the clear favorite of the 3 invaders in ALL the betting markets like the greek ladbrokes, william hill...

Now the ml comes out and Raven's Pass is significantly lower.

and now currently Willhill just has all 3 at 7/1

BF's multiple conspiracy choice:
-----------------
a) something happened in the last few days :D
b) the linesmaker tried to handicap on his own rather than the crowd
c) the ml was suggested by bookmakers like willhill to manipulate action
d) peloTON

My first post ever......

So I'm hoping this works.

Seems to me that the smart play in this race is the Super. The pool is going to be through the roof, and as long as you have the "order" right underneath Curlin, it might pay a grand or better. I like the Euros in some of these, but in the Classic, I think it's likely they'll be completely off the board. Go for the bombs underneath in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Again, hope my initial post works...., and I look forward to visiting this site on a regular basis.

hockey2315 10-21-2008 07:54 PM

Interesting that Murtagh chose Duke over Henry. . .

Welcome to the board.

I think Tiago and Student Council have decent shots at hitting the board

I think Henry is EXTREMELY unlikely here. He's 75-1 in this spot as far as I am concerned.
Murtagh has a much better chance on Duke of Marmalade.

Try and build a Pick 6 ticket and then try and throw out horses in the Classic on your Pick 6 ticket, final leg....ain't easy

I actually think Fairbanks is a must-include in any exotics. He isn't much, but this race should set up perfectly for him to hang on for a share.
Of course, I'll also be betting against Curlin in this spot, so what do I know.
Welcome to the board.

Henry hasn't shown he can handle 10f, whereas the Duke is world class at 10f (at least on turf). Not a difficult choice for him, I would think.

I just can't find any reason to think he will be effective at 10f on this surface.
He has never gone beyond a mile and there is no real reason to think the increase in distance will do anything but hurt him. When you throw in the surface-switch and the fact that he doesn't seem to be in the exact same form he was in when he rattled off those G1s this spring/summer, I think he is very unlikely.

Eh. . . fair enough. . .

SniperSB23 10-22-2008 02:16 AM

This race is simple. Neither Curlin nor Duke of Marmalade have the turn of foot to pass the other. But both have the guts to hold the other off if they take the lead first. So whoever passes Fairbanks off the turn and gets to the lead first is going to win. Figuring out which one of those pinheads will realize that is the priceless question.
