The key combatants were a " bloodstock agent " named Dan Frattinger who had been instrumental in the purchase of Last Minute Detail, who spent 15 seconds on the Triple Crown, and ended his career running for a nickel at Penn National. Last Minute Detail's owner, a guy named Jerry Little who I subsequently met and is a nice man, also joined in the fray....as well as one of actual Triple Crown aspirant Master David's owners ( who, coincidently, ended his career running for a tag at Delta Downs ). Those threads deserve a spot in the Smithsonian.

Was anyone here on that board ( aside from Morty )?

The best participant in those debates was hands down the WIFE of Master David's owner.

blackthroatedwind 12-14-2007 11:36 AM

I forgot.....he couldn't figure out if he was a man or a woman. That was hysterical.

I actually know why but don't want to get into it. Those were funny times. I honestly wish those threads still existed. Maybe I can get them....but I doubt it.

Fearless Leader 12-14-2007 11:38 AM

You had to feel bad for Dan the hopeless bloodstock agent. On second thought, no you didn't. But it sure was funny.

I found one post I saved.......

I bid farewell to all my close, close friends on this great forum...It is time that I move on in my life. Remember , 3/14/04 will show us how good LMD really is. Hope you all tune into ESPN for the great event.

I am going to be the big man here and bow out gracfully, although I am sure MD's real owners would love to hear about Majoritywhips claim of ownership, and that he is emailing people disgusting emails, sexually explicit emails, and I don't think MD's owners want to be affiliated with that, either do I. If Majoritywhip really works for the owners, they would probably fire him after hearing and reading a lot of his emails and posts. I have tried to make friends with the guy, but he isnt interested. He can do no wrong.

Fearless Leader 12-14-2007 11:42 AM

And it went on and on like that......for months.....it was great.

blackthroatedwind 12-14-2007 11:43 AM

Yes, thankfully he didn't " move on. "

Fearless Leader 12-14-2007 11:45 AM

He should be contacted and invited to join the forum.

well if you found that humorous...

once on this forum i got into it with him on something and he got enraged (no surprise). So he sends me a PM threatening to contact my employer and letting them know that I spend a lot of time during the day on internet message boards. so I play along and ask how he knows my employer. well he said he has friends on this forum who would give him my IP address and that he would use that to track down the company I work for.
i don't remember how I responded.

it wasn't a pm. it was a post for all to see.

he knew some "jersey guys" who were on their way to texas where the offender lived.

that was during the great troll war at espn when some of the really seasoned folks at the basketball and football boards visited horse racing.

the board bully just had a meltdown. it was fantastic.

Some of my favorites from that place are still some of the greatest ever.
By the way, I have some computer software that says Congaree is going to win the 2008 Kentucky Derby......perhaps because his jock is going to inject him with meth......during the race!!

No "great threads of all time" thread can really be considered complete without mentioning he who shall not be named.

it should be written. During a short period in April and May we had The Study Group Scandal, The Barbaro Breakdown Aftermath, and then The Troll War. It was too much and the place collapsed. Many refugees took shelter here.

As as aside, my all time favorite internet threads involved the horse LAST MINUTE DETAIL, his connections, and the run up to that years Classics. NOTHING will ever be funnier than that.

Bonus points for anyone that can name the horse that "Majority Whip" owned that was scheduled to face Last Minute Detail in the "Great Match Race" at Saratoga that same summer.

Good ole TT's forum!!! Who were you on that forum?

whodey17 12-14-2007 02:30 PM

I wonder what has happened to some of the posters in those aforementioned threads.

I used to post on TT, but I think I managed to miss most of this. I was only there for the last year or so of that forum.

I used to have stupid slanging matches with BB, usually when I was full of some awful acoholic beverage. Those were the days, eh?

ah, yes...the good old days.

but out of everything mentioned, i don't think anything compares to being threatened with the fbi, cia and secret service...among others. repent was always good for a laugh.

i used to as well, and then it went belly up--the azeri/lukas/long whip thread was a classic.

I can't even remember the name I posted under on that forum, never mind which threads there were. I just remember having many many arguments with BB over complete nonsense.

Those were the college days, and there was rarely a night when I didn't get back completely smashed, in an angry kind of way. So I usually took the anger out on him. :D

I think I kept mostly to the international section back then.

Good times.

Why was the TT forum shut down. I never got the full story.

someone in the industry threatened a lawsuit--at least, that was the reason that was given.
i didn't go there much, espn was where i usually posted. but then one disappeared, and the other should have!!!

the azeri thread is one that sticks out for some reason. other than that....

oh, don't get me wrong. i don't miss repent.

but yeah, someone who knew 'someone' broke that story. and hilarity ensued.

My nomination is Pillow's visual response when BBB was giving us all a handicappinig lesson with brown paper and highlighters.

This 11 page PG1985 thread is a classic. With contributions from all-time greats GRITS, Java Gold, kentuckyrosesinmay, and the man himself, PG1985.....this one is hard to top.
Although reading through it was a bit humbling (why did I like Notional so much?) it is still amusing. The topic is top 5 derby horses and the highlights include:

Java Gold: "Cobalt Blue...who cares about the rest...Java out."
PG1985: "i have a super sleeper, but i have no clue where he is ?"
kentuckyrosesinmay: "I will be very surprised in Street Sense is even in the starting gate."
kentuckyrosesinmay: "Both horses aren't nearly as pretty moving as they were as two year olds. You can pick stuff like this out if you know what you are looking for. Both looked sore to me, especially Street Sense. He doesn't even look like the same horse because he hits the ground so quick now. Any Given Saturday also hits the ground a little quicker than he did as a two year old."
King Glorious: "Only two horses have a chance to win the Derby. The exacta will be Notional and Circular Quay. Haven't decided the order but they are sure to be 1-2."
kentuckyrosesinmay: "Not all horses who are sore will walk sore. Bute hides a lot of things....That's why the people that I am associated with feel the horse's legs at the two year old sales."
kentuckyrosesinmay: "I can tell an enourmous amount about a horse by watching videos of the horses without even being around them. It ties into why they make videos of the horses at the two year old sales."

All of these are just from the first 4 pages of this highly entertaining thread.

Notional would have won. I'm absolutely sure of it. Him being out messed up Circular Quay's chances. Horses are herd animals and those two needed each other.

skippy3481 12-15-2007 02:47 PM

Ah yes the study group scandal, were they not from like bowling green U? Then oracle was the one who was going to the dean of the sociology department and get them all kicked out of school. When that threat didn't work I believed he invoked the old(one night after class when your walking to your car one my guys is going to kneecap you) ahh good times on that board.
But i do believe the top 5 derby horse thread is by far the best.

I miss repent.

His guilt associated with the hit on the aquarium fish of a political nemisis in his High SChool Young Democrat Club was hiliarious. He likened it to the Watergate break in.

He actually snuck into the garage of his political antagonist and turned the oxygen off in the fish tank while deftly avoiding high security. A planned fish assasination carried out with great care... but the guilt that followed was overwhelming for him.

My faves were back in the 90s on aol. not many of you here were there most likely, but one of the funniest things was when this dude, in real life, sent a whole shipment of hostess ho-ho's to this woman (who works in racing) in ky that had a weight problem.

two posts from this guy in san francisco were classic too. one was his comparison of excellent meeting to alydar, and the other was his example of philanthropy. he was proud of himself for giving a homeless guy his pizza crust when he was asked for money to buy a slice of pizza!

oh, another was when barry irwin threatened to get a restraining order against someone on those boards!

i suppose some of the early drugS posts were pretty outrageous too. he's much tamer now.

MANY GOOD ONES NEVER MADE TO HISTORY AS THEY WERE DELETED...but for those that saw them they will forever be no 1.. satans twin..

Thoroughbred Fan 12-16-2007 04:11 PM

I don't have any of them but many of the threads featuring the oh so wise oracle80 were classics. He could argue with himself to no end.

anyone can argue with themself.

he could argue with a rock. and then arrange to have it pounded into sand.

GPK 12-17-2007 07:09 AM

My vote goes to the "Amy Ho" picture thread.

Sadly was deleted, but I laughed for days over that thread.

A classic Pillow job...

miraja2 12-17-2007 07:21 AM

Although I don't think it exists anymore, whichever thread contained the introduction of "Shouldapulledout"
was top notch.

slotdirt 12-17-2007 09:47 AM

Not enough Blockheadd mentions here, people.

I think that one qualifies as a finalist for funniest post ever. Also the infamous but now deleted Satans Twin post.

but thread of the year i think you nailed already, the top five derby horse thread. that one had it all.
