I automatically have to like it. Congaree. Man I loved this horse and those Miles.

Left Bank--ran two monster races before he died--and won a older male championship. The problem I have, is that the horse he beat in both races, never ran again---and some of the horses behind him didn't run back to their form. Left Bank was off-the-charts when he was right---I'm just not so sure his races were all that underrated.

Perfect trip or not, Swept Overboard was sickeningly good that day.

What about Pleasant Home's victory in the '05 BC Distaff? I think that is the one I would put in place of Discreet Cat. She demolished a field of 12 others (including Ashado) by over 9 lengths and yet - even though it was just a little over a year ago - you seem to hear very little about it. It wasn't as impressive as Inside Information's Distaff in '95....but you hear a lot about that one.

I actually thought that was one of the weaker Distaff fields---PH ran BY FAR the best race of her life that day---but, I just can't see that race fitting. I tried to avoid Breeders Cup races---and though Inside Information's BC win is much more hyped...I would absolutely use that race before Pleasent Home's race.

II beat, what might have been the toughest Distaff field ever, by a record margin, and ran a faster figure than Cigar did winning the BC Classic that same day.

Banshee Breeze ran a pair of monster races at age 3---she won the Spinister by 12, from off-the-pace at speed friendly KEE, and equaled Bayakoa's stakes record....and she took the monster California filly Manistique apart in the Alabama at Saratoga. Both of those races flirted with making the list.

It's too bad her 3 year old sister is so slow.

Honour and Glory was a really nice horse ( he also won the Met Mile ).

I remember being on the Oklahoma one morning with a friend of mine who's a sucker for info, and we ran into Mike Smith who he was a bit friendly with, and Mike said you can bet my horse in whatever race on Saturday. My friend was far less excited when I told him the 58 work might draw a little attention.

To be honest, considering he won by 10 and was a serious horse, the $4 was a pretty good price.
