He looks like TIN FOIL to me.Won't close the door on his Derby chances just yet,but I wouldn't want to be holding a future on him. What a rat Notional is.Horses that need certain tracks are rats that shouldn't breed.

I agree...Tenfold warmed up like a horse that was going to rocket out of the gate, he was 'on' today...with a little seasoning maybe he will relax more...I think it's too soon to say he can't stretch out, he set honest fractions and hung on for 2nd. Notional is destined to be completely burned out before summer (not saying he's not talented just saying he won't last)

the jury is still out on tenfold and maybe he needs more time to mature. i havent written him off, but i havent been impressed by him and thought that today's race set up perfecting for notional (getting blinkers, back at SA) and there wasn't much competition. notional will run on the "trail" but i dont currently see him as a legit derby contender b/c i dont believe 10f suits him.

I likeTenfold to win

Seattle is your dog still alive?

Scav 01-14-2007 12:43 AM

This Tenfold horse is just lucky he held on for 2nd otherwise I would be on a real tandrum. I was lucky enough to back up my win wager with a hefty exacta box as a precaution, so I only bleed a little, instead of cutting off my whole hand.....

Was a little green towards the end and then galloped out pretty strong. a horses third race is usually his best and his two TG numbers are comparable, which could signal an explosion.

The other great thing about this is if he wins this race, he likely only needs to get a 3rd in another graded stakes race to qualify for the Derby.

He has everything that is liked for a Derby Prospect, broke his maiden at two with two decent learning experience, lightly raced, staying pedigree.

My only questions are

1) Can he speed rate and/or rate 3rd/4th?

2) Will Espinoza try to get cute on the nuts?

Wow, a hefty exacta box using a 3-5 that is "finished." That's a heckuva saver.

Scav 01-14-2007 01:20 PM

I thought he was finished, but I am not a stupid, he was 3/5 for a reason...I still tried to beat him.

Plus when I have a $300 win wager on Tenfold, and you want to play an exacta, you box it, but you would know that wouldn't you?

Instead of being down $400 for the race, I was down $135. I would rather have the 2nd outcome

Grapelli was pretty impressive with the late move, no?

As for the Rafael, Grapelli is my horse.

Yeah, Scav, I know a little about boxing horses. Just surprised you used Notional at all.

So now that you've seen this race, what do you expect out of these top finishers? I kinda liked Notional and hoped getting back on dirt would be the diff. He didn't disappoint , but not much value.

Only reason I used Notional was because I didn't think their was much in the race besides Tenfold, and I couldn't justify boxing anyone else with Tenfold for $50, then Notional.

Not really sure what to think about them. Not sure how much Tenfold's performance was Victors fault because as Bethani said, he was pretty keyed up, 46 is ludicious, but custom in all races in California.

I don't think Notional will win a race over 8.5 furlongs. Tenfold, not sure yet, next race will tell us alot, and my guess is that they might skip the next race and give him 45 days off. They got graded stakes earnings out of this so it was positive. Not a fan of Grapelli, seems to be a plotter...but could get better with distance.
