Yikes! "Dog omen"...pooch karma.
Well, I hope Coal is ok, and it's good to hear that Jerry's is on the mend.
Seems that the pups need us as much as we need them. Heck, look what you've got if you spell dog backwards.

I've had labs for years and have had many nights like that after they had gotten into something they shouldn't eat...

She had a stick for dinner last night, apparently. She's always had a sensitive stomach, but this was extreme... I couldn't believe the irony of the situation since Seattle had just posted about his pup. They x-rayed her gut to be safe and with the exception of some stick particles, everything was good. She'll be on the chicken and rice diet for the next few days. I definitely could have used that money for something else, but the kid and the animals come first. :D

I feel your pain. Mine had a seizure again yesterday and its on meds for thyroid and seizures. Dont know how much longer he will be living. It would be very devestating to my wife if something happened to him. Had to put down a dog around this time three years ago.

this morning, my dog is more lethargic than usual, and she hasnt eaten or drank any water. Probably will have no choice but to take it to the vet Friday or even tomorrow hopefully there will be one open.

Sorry Nascar! It's hard to lose a pet,and harder to care for them and watch them go. We put our dog down about 2yrs ago and my wife said she couldn't go through it again.

Seattle, if your dog is still lethargic and off her food and water, don't wait much longer to get her to the vet. If she's not drinking, she can become dehydrated quickly. Two things you can check-her temp (if you don't have a thermometer, feel the pads of her feet, her armpits and the inside of her thighs). If she feels hot there, she may have a temp. Also lift her lip and press on her gum for a few seconds. See how quickly the color returns to normal after you release the pressure. Deb

shes warm, and we just tried to feed her and give her water nothing works.

I would take her to the vet. She may have a blockage in her intestinal track or stomach. Let me know how you make out. Deb

my doggy got through it fine, thanks for the advice and well wishes. She started to eat and drink up on Friday. Never have I been so happy to see poop and piss on the floor

All I can tell you to do is get another dog.It is never easy to lose a pet,but I think it helps a little to have another young and healthy one around to love. They would probably demand your attention(and love,)and help you move on a little better. We all know you're in a tough spot(with an 18 yr old dog.)Some of us have been in the same situation, and sometimes younger dogs are the distraction that will make it easier to deal with.
