Congrats Ann....and for $230, this book has a day at Barnes and Noble written all over it...just read it for free.:D

does this book have a section on the sire, Kafwain
and if so how extensive is the section?
$230, who set that price, the publisher?
I spend a lot of my life in book stores
and don't see many in that price range

Congratulation Ann! I am going to hint to my husband about my birthday coming up soon. :D

Like many books for a specialized audience, this one has a higher price than mass market books. I expect they have used 'coffee table book' quality photos of the horses and glossy paper, that sort of thing. I haven't seen it yet - was supposed to be able to get mine at a party given by the editor (Byron, the Aussie who does matings for Taylor Made), but it hasn't come off yet. Some previous 'prestige' reference books about breeding and pedigrees have been over $100 and as a result, I don't own them.

The book arrived yesterday. Looks like it is going to be a great reference. If quite studying pedigrees, I can use it for working out my biceps.(The thing weighs about 10 pounds.):D :D

Congrats, Ann! This may finally motivate me to go get a library card.

$230 sounds like a not unusual price for a very large reference manual. I remember $80 college textbooks and I bet they weren't half as nice (or as interesting) as I imagine this book is... :)

Wow, another RTTR alumnus! I really hated it when they shut down the board. A few people who couldn't keep on topic and play nice ruined it for the rest of us. Actually, I'm on another board with a bunch of people who didn't want to stop talking after the contest one year and we are now like family.

Congrats Ann!!! What a rush you must feel!! Maybe the publisher will send a copy so we can get you some air time!!! I am the official reader of ATRAB and can't wait to read it!!

Actally, Gene and Kevin ARE on our private horse fans board on Yahoo. We do also chat on the Pick 6 board in season. I have another spinoff board (for handicappers, not just racing fans) on Yahoo with some Pick 6 alumni. I spend a lot of time on boards - yes, I have no life.
