You are sicker than first thought if you have no problem with that picture. Think about the connections. Do you think they like the last picture of the filly that they bred, and loved to be of her falling with her leg snapped. Come on, have some compassion.

DaHoss,
I'll stand up for Sumitas in that he looks for safer racing for all the horses.
I do as well.
At times, the topic gets twisted to his deep concern.
Not that that's really about the Daily Rag selling newspapers...cause it's not.
In my humble view, Sumitas is very compassionate.
We just need to discuss this in the poly room rather than here.
OK?

oh come on--it's an issue with the sport itself. it's always going to happen as long as there is racing, whatever surface it's on. remember horatio nelson earlier this year?

Fine, I get it, but this has nothing to do with poly, and it's just not fair to anyone involved to bring the agenda in here.

OK with me. I already said it belongs in the poly room.
All I was trying to say is that Sumitas hates horses breaking down as much as I do.
The picture was very sick, and I've already commented on it.
Let's get this thread moved to the poly room if that's where it needs to go.
I didn't bring poly to this thread, but in a way, I understand why Sumitas did.
RIP Pine Island.

randallscott35 11-05-2006 03:48 PM

This has nothing to do with the Poly room and shouldn't be moved anywhere.

I agree that this thread was about the Daily Rag photo.
Maybe Sumitas will comment, or better yet, start a thread in the poly room if that's where his thoughts go.
This thread should stay here and remain on the topic presented.

Not really sure what your point is, because first you said it should be moved, now you are saying it shouldn't.

DaHoss,
All I was trying to say is that I thought I understood where Sumitas was coming from. I'll let him explain it further.
I've already said all I need to say about the photo (see above).
All I was saying is that if this was going to become a poly thread, that's where it should go.
Peace. And RIP Pine Island.

pretty much the same pic, worse imo (showed more)
in the Louisville C~J, so not just NY Daily News

I am shaken by the breakdown. We just can't keep ignoring them. The picture shows the shocking end to a great animal. How brave they are and we must do what's best to prevent this.

my husband picked up an arkansas democrat gazette for me today. i can't believe they chose to use this appalling photo as well--and it's their only pic from the day. i'm sorry, i don't understand it. nothing like focusing on the bad, rather than celebrating all the good.

so because i'd just as soon not have THAT image burned into my brain, rather than say, her gazelle win, i'm ignoring it?? i don't think that's the case. some people try to accentuate the positive, doesnt' mean your head is in the sand when you do that.

Usa Today picked up the pictue on its web site

Yet another exampleo of why the Daily News is a piece of **** paper. Thanks for writing the editor, I will do the same- an article would have been enough, the picture was just poor journalism.

GenuineRisk 11-05-2006 09:36 PM

Thanks for starting this thread, Randall, and for everyone chiming in on which news sites have used the picture-- I normally buy all the papers the next day to read recaps of the races, but thanks to this thread, I knew which ones to avoid buying!

GPK 11-05-2006 09:43 PM

I read the NY Times at Starbucks every morning...they had a bad picture in there too...

repent 11-05-2006 09:48 PM

this is the liberal media.

they publish writings and photos that reflect negatively on the sport of horse racing.
they do not like our sport b/c they believe all animals should freely roam the streets eating out of garbage cans just like the human degenerates that make up the political party they support.

plus,
obviously most horse owners are Republicans b/c most successful Americans are Republicans.
its no surprise that the liberal media hates everything about the sport of horse racing.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/st...p-394240c.html

They did it also in the Evansville Courier. AGAIN! I remember the Landseer photo in the paper. It was quite sickening. I wrote to the paper. No response. I'm not bothering this time either. I'm just wondering why I didn't see a photo of Invasor in the winner's circle or winning at the line.

Side Note:
Repent is back true to form. That gave me a chuckle.

Side Note 2:
I'm a little sick of this crap, and this is all I'm going to say. "oh they're talking about poly, send it to the poly room. Steve send it to the poly room." This absolutely makes me sick. Its general horse racing discussion quit waisting a post about sending it somewhere else. You don't see anyone saying 'send this topic to the so-so place.' do you? Then stop it will this crap also. Steve, pais, ateam will be judge. Thank you!
