My bad... About not knowing he lost his bug.

As I said before, I don't think the way Leparoux rode yesterday made a difference. P. Drift was blocked, but was the better move to take 'Drift 10-wide to get around 'em? You hope something opens up so you don't exert that energy taking him way outside.

As I said in the original post, the race yesterday was eerily similar to P. Drift's BC Classic run last year. Blocked tilat least mid-stretch, and then he came with a big run.

So I'm not tyring to take too much away from Ball 4, but the fact remains he had a perfect trip, while 'Drift and Preimum Tap had horrible trips. I'm convinced they both beat Ball 4 with betetr trips. I hope I can get 15-1 on Perfect Drift in the Classic.

blackthroatedwind 10-01-2006 04:41 PM

15-1?

This is not meant as a criticism of Perfect Drift but I would give you 15-1 for as much money as you could possibly raise. He will be upwards of 30-1 in the Classic.

Gander 10-01-2006 04:44 PM

I think it absolutely made the difference. Now we know that Premium Tap would have won had he gotten through, and we also know that Kent D is one of the few jockeys out there that can find trouble in a short field on the dirt with the best horse. Thats moot. Kent did what he does best- find a way to lose.

That said, Perfect Drift was easily the 2nd best horse in the race and Leparoux did all he could to ensure he couldnt take proper advantage of a bonehead ride by giving another bonehead ride.

pmayjr 10-01-2006 05:22 PM

lol well said Gander.

Blackthroat, I hope you're right about P. Drift's odds.

disappearingdan_akaplaya 10-02-2006 09:17 PM

well im as big a supporter of perfect drift as most round here know but in this thread ill reply to the julien comments! lots of athletes including jocks have all the physical talent in the world but some dont have any brains whatsoever! this kid does! ive watched him ride so much and the majority of the time he puts his horse in the best possible spot to win. hada chance to meet julien this past summer and hes one helluva nice guy! his ride clearly won the race for us@churchill, luga pulled his crap hopping out the gate like hes done for other riders throughout his career but julien recovered quickly and made a very heady ride on him! i hope the people that are slamming him have religiously watched him ride. heres the winners circle pic from that day, luga is not only a very nice horse on the track but hes also pleasant to take care of and just be around. for as huge as he is hes a gentle giant

Blackthroat is almost certainly right. PD's future odds for the Classic are 44-1 at Pinnacle and 50-1 at VIP/Gameday. I don't think you have to worry about getting 15-1 on raceday. It'll probably be over 30-1, unless there are major defections from the lineup.

well cajun i hear the oaklawn meet is nothing but 1 huge party after the races for the horsemen basically every single night. if we go ill go out and party once and awhile of course but i cant do it every single night! my trainer although young is obviously a adult and old enough to make his own choices but i dont want him 2 become a full blown drunk like so many are on the backside. i think wed have a really good time if we went and also do well as far as the races go since we gotta few that can compete down there

I'm 26...

I have a year left in school. I'm going to start back up in January and get my business or marketing degree.
