Does the less than stellar performance by El Padrino today make Mark Valeski more of a question mark? Or, was the Florida Derby simply that strong?

And 3 Auto Tosses to boot + El Padrino.

200k for the .50 cent pick 4. I wonder if that winner played on twinspires because they will also get 1 million points which they can redeem for 1000 dollars. Big Bonus!

Hero of Order is not Triple Crown nominated. No KY Derby for him unless fewer than 20 enter, and they pay $200,000. I believe there are 4 places on the AE list for the Derby, and I'm sure every single one will be filled with a TC nom'd horse, so I doubt his connections even entertain it.

I just realized that his sire is Sharp Humor who, per the Stallion Register, is now in Korea. Hmm.

Unless the trainer doesnt know the rules, he was asked on HRTV if he is going and he said "of course".

Who is the trainer Ken Ramsey? LOL

Ya he in NOT Nominated-kinda sucks for them I guess, been running in stakes races and can't even spend 6k to get him nominated "just in case"

:p How did he phrase it? Did the interviewer say "are you going" or "is the horse going" or what? The trainer might not have meant Hero of Order. Might've just meant that he scored some good seats at Churchill.

Isn't that just the late nom fee? Would've been a lot cheaper if they'd done it awhile back.

FWIW - John Velazquez was rather bullish on Windsurfer going forward. He said he was totally immature the entire race and even said he wished they had a few more races in him and could try the Derby. Obviously he's not going, but he really emphasized how he thought Windsurfer would be a nice horse later on this year.

There's definitely a N1X out there with his name on it.

Indeed. Although I will admit his maiden race impressed me... but so do a lot of Pletcher horses at GP.

Travis Stone 04-03-2012 08:33 AM

Also, Steve Margolis said they would look for a race at Churchill in 5-6 weeks or so, and he also mentioned a race like the Dwyer as something to shoot for.

I'm sure he'll be brought along slowly after this. Probably get through his conditions before trying Stakes again next year.

Or not.
